Hawaii Under Tsunami Warning :(

cheepneezy Feb 27, 2010 9:54 am

Just walked around aus a little and now I'm sitting outside working on my tan. And it really needs work. waiting for the Mackie-rollbile express. Must invent droid glare screen.

adelauro Feb 27, 2010 9:57 am

Off to lunch, then I think I'll take the boat out to the resort's private island. Later, Box.

DL offered $400 to 7 people on PHL-CVG. They really have no clue how to consult historical trend data for bookings, do they?? And who offers $400 as a first offer on such a short hop??

The overbooking and first offer aren't that surprising considering all of the recent delays/cancellations. The CO flight my parents were on this morning was over by 22. I'm not sure what the starting and ending offers were as they were not able to change their travel plans.

US occasionally offers this as a weekend e-fares special. It is about an hour and fifteen minutes from ABE to PHL by car.

That is one thing they can learn from UA. They generally seem to board planes efficiently (not boarding all elites at once is probably helpful, as much as it pains me to say it).

I've done ABE-PHL in about 1:05 including rental car return once when I was in a real hurry. To be fair, I was out on the west side of town off PA-100, so getting on I-476 was pretty quick.

UA's boarding process has worked pretty well with the red carpet setup. As long as the GA's are semi-rigorous and not afraid to send gate lice to the back of the line every so often, it generally works out.

About the only time it breaks down is when there are too many 22" rollaboards for an A319/20.

That magnitude 8.8 earthquake in Chile must have been quite the quake. Luckily most structures are built to withstand quakes and damage, at least so far, seems to be much less that it could have been. Still very :(

Hope MBM3 (and rest of Hawaii) stays safe now that there's a tsunami warning.

What hotel are you staying at?

Trump. Not horrible, though the guys I'm with don't really understand how to travel and get deals. I do need to try to find something cheap for a Wyndham in town here if there is something I can grab for the 5,000 miles with BD.

Almost sounds like UA, though I think UA has a tad more strict standards about what is to be handed out in certain situations.

UA is quite specific on VDB values. They start at $200 for up to 2 or 3 hours, I think.

Only 4 hours sleep and these guys all woke up. Gonna need nap time later today in a serious way.

Morning, Box. Today's downtime this afternoon will certainly require a nap. :-: Mrs. Mackie and I had such a good time last night, and I wish that Rolo, Fozz, mnmag, baglady, and Plus1 had been able to make it.

There was a bit of  at the reception Q&A thanks to some overly-entitled SPG plats, but the Sheraton and associated SPG management were very, very classy people and were honest about their organization and how they operated their hotel. Mrs. Mackie made up a new drinking game where a swig of beer was taken every time someone said, "brand standard." She was quite toasted... :D

Good, albeit somewhat cold, times at The Flying Saucer as well. We eventually got to a table with a heater as all the tables inside were taken (expected on a Friday night). Myself and Mrs. Mackie, monitor and Fran, colpuck, cheepneezy, sfogate, J.Edward, Flyer_70 +1, ALCO +1, BondAir007, and Renard all had a great time and had several tasty adult beverages. :D Breakfast is on its way, and this is going to be a  day. ^

Sounds like a wonderful start to the Do! :-:

Good Morning, Box.

Greetings from PR. Finally got to the El Conquistador about 2:30 this morning. I just got up, so kind of cuts into my one day of R&R before my conference starts tomorrow. I'm trying to decide what to do, the weather is kind of icky. It's warm, but humid and showery. (I know, not getting much sympathy from the NE contingent in teh Box. I wish I was there!) A bunch of the sales people invited me to golf with them later. I'm not much of a golfer, but I'll probably join them for the exercise and the drinking.

ETA: Good luck and have fun to everyone traveling and Do-ing today.

Not much sympathy from TPA either ;)

46 and raining

For anyone who hasn't seen it, this offer has been extended through 3/31.

My first DO selection has certainly been a good one.^^:-: It's great to finally meet the 'friends' you've had for years. Colpuck goes down in history as being my first FTer/Boxer;) since I recognized him as an Olympic torch carrier.

Looking forward to the rest today's events and getting back together win everyone.:):-::D:):-:

Cool!^

Well I don't think ALCO has a boot fetish so I'll assume she has passport, will travel on a seconds notice, and packs light and quickly.

Heh, heh!;):D
