DL is generally very good about not VDB'ing, they are the hardest in IMHO.

Likely, $400 was cheaper than IDB'ing...

I hope so also. I guess I will know more this evening.

Apparently the officials in HI plan to sound the alarms at 6am HST to alert the public.

This makes me wonder what I would do if I was in Waikiki. Would I just stay on the upper floors of the hotel or stop at one of a million ABC stores, stock up on some food and water and take a walk to higher ground inland as there is so much notice?

I think most of the hotels in Waikiki are of modern construction and reinforced, but I think my worries would get the best of me and I would follow your plan of heading for the hills with supplies.

Has anyone looked at the Toshiba Satellite T115? It looks snazzy, $449 price point and it seems a bit more powerful than a NetBook, but it's also cheap enough and small enough that it would be ideal for travel.

I'm gonna look at that -- I'm definitely shying away from getting a netbook -- really need something w/some decent computing power, yet smallish & cheap!^

Allegedly they have them at Costco so you could get one and try it out for 90 days with their lovely return policy. ;)

I think I would end up stocking up and hunkering down in an upper floor.

I believe $400 is the default offer - was a nice perk to the NW folks who were accustomed to $300.

Absolutely - I don't like things that are hard to estimate fairly accurately.

Oh, no! I'd missed you were planning to head to HI! Hope for your sake and everyone else that the wave settles out in the ocean.
