Heavy, wet stuff coming down here, too.
Glad I've got leftover soup in the house from yesterday's lunch order. :-: |

You get no  from me when you close down because of bad weather. I wouldn't want to risk flying in bad weather. I value safety, thank you very much :)
So, sfogate, take refuge in the Box, and know that we are all sympathizing with you! I am now starting to worry that the weight of the snow will start snapping branches & lead to a power outage -- this is not uncommon around here -- we have tons of really old trees! |

And, in reality, I still don't understand why US doesn't free those slots up on the open market or possibly even to a fellow *A carrier.
A fellow *A carrier for DCA/LGA means UA/CO/AC, and given that all of them are holding US at arm's length I'm not surprised they haven't considered that.

The NRT slots were weird. They were getting them, but they were going to lease them back to DL for a few years.
So, is GRU worth that much? What does US know that the rest of the world doesn't? As for GRU, Brazil is an emerging market ... and they started flights to GIG last year. They have a Caribbean presence and some number of flights to Mexico and Costa Rica so perhaps they want to build routes to South America. Either that, or Claudio has Parker's ear.

Howdy from DEN West RCC. :D^

icurhere2 "WIN" - with my speech tomorrow, I had planned drive in for the first day of the conference, have one Wyndham stay (paid by state) tomorrow night to get 5,000 BD miles, then leave from the conference Friday to get to BNA. I've now figured out a way to drive down tonight and get my last two BD stays in for less than my original travel authorization amount.
"WIN" in quotes involves Days Inn and Knight's Inn  |

We have some kind of 15' tall evergreen with really shallow roots planted in front of our house, and I expect that it would be knocked over if my father and I hadn't already secured it with wire and posts in the ground four years ago. The lowest branches of our Japanese maple are buried, so no danger there...
Snow is really coming down hard now! Not planning on going out anywhere -- son is already finished w/sledding for the day!;) |

The open market, realistically, means WN and B6, in which case they could kiss goodbye to their pricing power.

Since I don't think they have a plane that can fly from PHX or PHL to NRT, I suppose the lease would buy time until the A350 arrives.

It looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.

We have a lot of very tall, very old trees in my neighborhood. During the summer storms last year, two massive trees fell - both onto Rte 27, a major thoroughfare through town. Luckily, both times, the trees fell while the traffic lights were at red, and fell in such a way that they missed the traveling traffic. Very considerate of the trees, I thought! :D |

SDC question for the box.
If one is flying ICT-IAH-ORD, is it possible to SDC for only the first leg? |

I'm not worried about the trees in my yard, per se -- it's the tall old oaks that line the streets & are next to the power lines!:o

The 332 should be able to do a PHX-NRT leg and they have a few of those.

Maybe they are just preparing to be kicked out of *A. :) The reality is if the demand is there, US will likely get slaughtered in Brazlil. UA has so many dormant authorities from the PA days that if they fired those up, it would hurt everyone else.
UA starting new service to Brazil would require them to have the aircraft to do it.

Thankfully, most of the wires in our neighborhood are buried. The ones leading to it are not, but we don't end up with power outages very often.
Th snow is really starting to come down much harder now. I'm told that it'll really pick up over the next hour or so. :p |
