Reward vs. revenue ticket, ticket rules

Here is a minor bug that may cause some confusion:

Set up an itinerary for a reward ticket.

Then press "Purchase this reservation without redeeming miles," and get the same itinerary up for ordinary purchase.

Then press the rules link in the "rules and restrictions" section.

This takes you to the rules for the reward ticket, not for the revenue ticket, as it should.

Clicking the "back" button takes you back to the reward itinerary, though, so people are likely to notice the error.

Combined? Question

Having multiple itineraries pending for the first time since the new site went up, I couldn't help but notice the "Combine?" option on the manage reservations page.

In my case, these are two totally unrelated items, 3 months apart, one business, one personal including other travelers.

I was sorely tempted to try to combine just to see what would happen... but thought better of it.

That said, I'm hoping that the attempt would have failed.

I'd also suggest that some explanation of the feature be included on the site.

I know from earlier posts that this is intended to combine hotel, air and car PNRs. However it would also be useful to combine multiple flights booked separately in order to gain connecting flight status, as well as PNR's from different travelers on the same flight booked separately.

(I could even see someone attempting to end-run around the best fare guarantee this way).

Had any of those situations (except the BFG one) been mine, I *would* have tried.

Updated:

Combined a car rental with a flight. Once you have a combined PNR in Manage Reservations, the option to combine anything else seems to disappear.

1. The upgrade standby list has no one listed and no one has been upgraded.
2. The capacity is shown as 8 (correct for a 735), Booked is Full and checked in is 0 (this is before the 24 hr OLCI window).
3. The flight Standby List shows no one listed and both First Class and Economy Class as Available.
4. The Seat Map shows 3 Open in FC in addition to the S for 1B.

It sure dosen't compute!:td:

I spoke with the GA who was very helpful. As an aside, I've had nothing but polite, helpful GA's at EWR in the last 6 months.

Her numbers and seat map agreed with the pda (really good).

The only explanation that she could come up with was that the seats had been booked but not paid for. About 30 min before scheduled departure 2 seats opened up and 2 battlefields resupted and then at the 15 mon mark, just before boarding, the last 2 opened and were given out. The GA was too busy after that for me to ask any other questions.

"Verified by Visa" not working

Within the past few months, when purchasing tickets on CO.com with a Chase (non-CO) credit card I have been prompted to provide my "Verified by Visa" password. Not only is this extremely annoying (does Chase force this or is it CO?) but it does not always work. Many times I have to submit my password several times for it to work (when it does not work, it just redirects me back to the CO.com purchase/payment page).

I am trying to buy a ticket now and it is not working at all - even after several tries. Quite frustrating...

EDIT: I have tried to complete this purchase (without success) using the following OS/browser combinations:

Mac OSX / Firefox 2.x
Mac OSX / Safari 3.x
Windows XP / Firefox 2.x
Windows XP / IE 7.x

Passport prompt at OLCI

I have my passport number saved in my profile, but 9 times out of 10 I have to re-enter it at OLCI. I can only recall once that it pulled my passport number out of my profile. (Yes, I'm logged into my account.)

Trip alerts - continuing problems

So I updated my trip alert profile based on changes with the new site. Did that a couple of weeks ago (earlier post). At the time I received the opt-in message ("You requested text messaging...reply "Yes" or "no").

Yesterday I received no trip alerts at all. Today, while waiting at ORD for a flight which is delayed, I just received another opt-in message. No trip alert.

I do this a second time a couple of days ago, except for a $30 difference between the fares. Again, no e-mail with the travel cert. #. Has this happened to anyone else?

Guess I am wrong. I received a travel cert in the mail. Why not e-mail? I would have liked to use it immediately. Thankfully the fine folks on the elite line were able to help me out to use it right away.

If I choose Flying Blue as my frequent flyer program and insert my membership nummer it does not recognize my number as Elite and therefore I do not get any Elite Access benefits or seat selection.

If I change it to Flying Dutchman-KLM (a program that has not existed for more than two years now) it recognizes my Elite status.

I receive my miles on time.

This has been the case for more than a year.

Any ideas or updates to fix this issue?

I just booked a flight on CO.Com for the first time a (I'm Europe based now and this is for a rare US domestic itinerary) and was really pleased with how easy it was. After I entered my Flying Blue number, it whirred for a while and then when it went to the seat booking phase, it had already assigned me aisle seats in the preferred section (my preference under Flying Blue but certainly not at CO since I haven't booked there before). At any rate, I was very impressed with the way elite benefits were recognized. Way to go, CO!.

not showing on pda.continental.com upgrade standby list

Has anyone else found that they do not appear on the upgrade standby list here: http://pda.continental.com/Test20/Fl...sGateInfo.aspx even though they have reason to believe they are on the list? I'm not showing as one of 5 upgraded or as one of 23 on the list for a flight today even though a PC agent says I'm on it. Just wondering if this is a widespread glitch, I'm just unlucky, or I'm confused.

I hope this is the right place for this. Sorry if it is not.

I think I'll pass on reading all 30+ pages of this thread to see if this has already been suggested (searched 'record locator' and didn't find anything), but COInsider, would it be possible for co.com to display the record locator number(s) for any non-CO airline flights in an itinerary booked on co.com or through co? That would sure save a lot of calls to NW, DL, and QF in my case.

I think its time to refresh this thread!

The continental.com reward booking to Asia hasn't worked for several weeks, at least for me, it always displays a calendar with no availability of any kind and the message: "Continental.com could not find any available flights for reward travel meeting your requirements. You may modify your search criteria or contact Continental Reservations in United States at 1-800-300-1547".

I called Elite Desk and the rewards were indeed available on NW flights. When told the web reward reservation was not working, the CSR was surprised to learned it.

Has anyone else encountered the same problem?

Passport Issue w/OLCI for Int’l Flights

Like post #454, I have had a continuing problem with an old passport number always showing up during OLCI. I brought this issue up when the previous preview site was opened up about 2 months ago, and it still exists. I wrote about it just now on the bug reporting page for the new preview that is supposed to come online on 30 March. This is extremely frustrating to me, and I don’t know why an old passport number, more than 3 years old now, keeps coming up despite the double-digit international flights I’ve taken with my new passport. I wish someone would answer me about why this keeps happening; is this a Homeland Security thing; should I enter a new passport number on my record so that OLCI would start using my present passport number thinking it was my old one?

Here’s what I wrote in the latest bug report: “I wrote to you about this problem during the last preview about 2 months ago, and it still is not fixed: I just checked into my flight to Toronto and, despite having my passport info in my account and having taken many, many international flights with my no longer new passport, when I go to online check-in, an old passport number keeps coming up on the initial flight and I have to manually re-enter all info. I’m really(!!) annoyed that this keeps on happening. I asked for a response when I brought this up the last time, and I heard nothing back. How about now?”

Has anyone had success using the 5% discount code with Y fares? I know that people had issues but I thought it would be fixed by now.

I'm trying to buy a Y fare using the code and if the code is entered the fare returned is U. I might as well buy the A fare since it's the same price as the Y.

Couldn't apply TravelBank credit

Booked a few cheap tickets yesterday for this weekend.

My mom has $10 in her TravelBank account, but during payment, the option to use that credit didn't show up, using the regular co.com site.

I booked my own ticket using the preview site, and I could apply my TravelBank credit with no problem.

Same flight, same fare.
