Well if this is evidence of your technical insight, we should have quite an entertaining future!

Oh boy!...

After reading through this thread I am all but busting a gut with anticipation on how this will play out. The CO forum has been peaceful for far too long

        Airplanes fly and cars don't

        2+2 = pi Sqroot(2+N)

When you can give us the value N, you may correct us.

Uhh, then what does this have to do with CO or flyertalk? Since the purpose of flyertalk is to talk about frequent flier programs and the CO board is to talk about it's frequent flier program and it's policies, and this thread is about neither, I suggest this thread be locked or better yet, deleted.

So it's us vs. them? Mr./Ms. correction vs. the world? How about a little "we" action here?? This used to be such a friendly place. "We" can all learn stuff (physics, calculus, aeronautical engineering., etc.), but it is much less well received from a teacher with a bad attitude (altitude? pitch?).

        Question for the OP

I have a question for the OP, regarding fuel consumption. Take whatever airframe/engine you are familiar with (an A320 would be good), flying a routine flight plan on, say, a 600 nm flight between uncongested airports. Then, what's the total fuel consumption, if that flight is full (say, 200 lbs per passenger in body/carry-on/baggage weight), vs the total fuel consumption flying dead-head? That is, the only variable is passenger load.

I don't know but I question the context in which the equation was put forth. Was it pi*sqrt of 2 + N or was it the square of pi * (2+N) ?

Either way I came up with 0

I love all of you with a sense of humor (it gets those of us who appreciate it through the mundane BS of everyday life)...which is where I suspect the "Corrector" is coming from....

Let's all have fun with it......
