If you want to avoid having gas, don't order the fruit plate. Ever.

The argument I have against Cman is that all the marbles are in the airlines bag. No one here wants to see Continental go belly up, yet at the same time I think that everyone could contribute useful suggestions to CO - some more realistic then others - to help CO improve their product.

Consider the contentious issue of the removal of FC from the 753's. The elites do not like it. Yet, I can understand how some routes are not elite heavy and are high density; if zapping FC seats for a few more Y will help CO break even then I say go for it.

However, I do know that if CO devalues the elite program, the elites will leave. Not because they are disloyal, but because they are disillusioned with what they perceive Continental as doing. Personally I think the abysmal EUA ratio of late can be partially blamed on Deltas StupidFares. Knock down FC to semi-affordable levels and more people will buy it, ergo there will be less for EUAs. If CO makes a profit from this then great. I would suggest they be mindful of the business elites who are confined to coach as if Continental does not deliver on what they promise, the elites will leave. When the elites leave so does a massive part of their revenue.

I made a challenge some time ago for someone to start a thread titled: CO axes EUA for all customers, Plats only upgraded at gate should space be available. I can bet there would be a response. Elites are not the problem, some people need to realize this - just as others need to realize that not getting upgraded could result in CO brining in more money for that seat, which in turn means they have a better chance at survival.

Guys and Gals, this is a two way relationship. In times of trouble I do not mind cutting CO some slack, however when times are good I certainly hope that CO does not forget about the people that contributed to its success.

Sorry for the off topic vent.

And speaking of venting....

It certainly beats begging and whining for more and more--- and more and more, and more and more. At what point does it become embarassing to keep whining?. You ask for more when airline finances are good, because they can afford it. And you keep asking for more when the airlines liquidity is critical, because you think your $183 transcons makes you a loyal Plat. So, I will keep posting my thoughts as long as Plats keep whining for more. We need to be fair and balanced.

Agreed. Feel free to start another thread to discuss this.

Now, can we please keep the discussion in this thread focused on the noxious and smelly topic that started it?

Not attending but am a plat which is viewable to everyone, including you (no stellar deduction). I wish I was going, but I have to have an appointment with a gastroenterologist scheduled that weekend.

There are those (most, I assume) that would find this to be rude, repetitive and boring.

Also, your argument is flawed. CO is a business. Like any businesses, it makes the decisions that it feels are necessary. It has decided on the current level of Elite perks. They are free to stop that, and pax are free to fly other airlines. You seem to take a socialistic view of it, but (fortunately for me, perhaps to your dismay) we live is a capitalist society. If CO doesn't want to offer more Elite perks, they don't have to. Also, pax don't have to fly their airline. It's really not that complicated.

MATURITY is called for! Stop talking about serious points and resume the audacious and unmitigated flatulence immediately!

I wonder if this counts as a new low?

Not to be disrespectful, but isnt begging and whining just as noxious as farting? The only difference being that one is disgusting and the other is disgusting.
