Bump after Bump doable?
I was able to secure a bump tonight on an Intl flight, ($700 voucher) comes in handy as back in April the cheapest tkt was an "H" fare at $1300 so that brings it down to $600.
CO told me they put put me on Tues nights flight, I said in that case ill fly out tonight. She got a supervisor who was able to do an overbooking for tommorrows afternoon flight- which was already overboke dand gave me a confirmed setat assignment.
My question is will CO allow me to vol again? I would do it if they will put me onto tommorrow nights flight or route me thru Europe with a connection. I did the Europe thing back in May on the same routing. i just dont know if they will a vol to again be a vol. TWA tried Not to let you do 2 bumps back to back on Intl flights, I did a few times with on domestics but they turned me down once they looked at my record and saw I had taken a bump on their last flight to the same destination Intl.

I suspect I know where you are...
I've been eyeing those $1300 H fares, too.
I had the opportunity to do a double-bump on LGA-IAH once. Could have done it, too, except that my grandparents in IAH would have been pissed 'cause I'd have missed dinner.
Don't know about int'l, but I suspect you could do it. Especially if they're hard-pressed for volunteers.

I don't see any issue-- in fact, if you approach the agents and sound like you know the process (don't board right away; give them space to work) they may be more inclined to use you, even.
I would hold to the addage that the first to volunteer are the first to be bumped-- regardless of what you did yesterday.
If you must get to Europe tomorrow, I would suggest you check out itn and schedules to build a few back-up options (i.e. if I'm bumped from this flight, can you put me on flight XX connecting to YY that leaves in 45 min?)
A note about CO bumps: I believe each voucher can only be used for a single ticket-- so the $700 can't be used for 3- $250 tickets, but for one single itinerary. (Note there are different interpretations of 'single itinerary'.) Regardless, something to keep in mind.
Have a good night!! Get to the gate early tomorrow to volunteer!

You can take as many consecutive bumps as the airline's overbooking and your charm permit. Once you have confirmed that the flight is, in fact, overbooked, ask to be put on the volunteer list. Politely let the gate agent know of your interest. But don't pester him/her. Don't check any bags. Wait until the last minute to board in case they do need your seat. And stay within reasonable proximity of the gate agent so he/she can find you without too much effort. Good luck.

Thanks for the help.
cAAI, since its an Intl flight the only place to get the bump is at the check-in counters. Otherwise you have to be traveling with carry-on Only. since that flight is also oversold I dont want to end up not being able to have a place for my carry-on on top.
Expecting the bump as all of COs flights were oversold all last week and this. Besides CO having to cancel its last Tues flights (2 777's) due to a strike at TLV, I would have been surprised not to have gotten one. The problem with Europe is All of those carriers also had to cancel their flights so they too were oversold for this week before that strike happened. From Orbitz last Mon B4 the strike there were $1001 fares on Weds the cheapest was just under 2000. i went down with all the diiferent combos tonight, but was told it had to be CO metal. (Im on an 'H' tkt). I guess tommorrow they can speak to the other carriers if there is room tonight theres no else to speak to at 10pm.
As far as I know no one else was placed onto COs flights tommorrow. Many asked if they could vol but when told the next flight is on Weds said they will fly. Weds night is a Holiday in Israel so many people not only want to be there for that but due to Religious beliefs cant travel on this weds/thurs/Fri/Sat
The Sweetest part is I booked my tkt back in the beginning of April and 'H' was the cheapest seat available. Of cause I went onto the waitlist for BF which as expected didnt clear (heard BF was oversold by 5). So now with the voucher it brings the price down to below what a 'B' fare would have been, which is the least expensive fare in this mkt.
i gave up seat 17D which according to Seat Guru has extra room, and they gave me an aisle in the back for tommorrow. Boy did the Elite desk think I lost all my marbles when I got home and called up and asked for a middle seat, instead of the aisle I had. I told her that for X amount of rows in the middle section the seats have an extra 2 inches and when I just flew in 18J a month ago I couldnt fit in. I hope its true, or at least to sit between a couple who will exchange with me so that I get an aisle with the extra room. Then again my folks did that on AA aislde and window and had someone bet them as it was a full flight. they preferred the seats they had rather being stuck in the middle one, poor chap.So it doesnt always bear fruit.
Of cause I was talking shop from the moment I asked if Vols were needed, thats why she called her supervisor and said Ive got an Elite that will Vol but we need to get him out tommorrow. I heard her tell some others Weds flight nothing else to talk about. We both thanked each other in the end. It was nuts they had 3 people checking in 235 people, she said its been like this since before the summer. I told her at least its a routing where CO is making a profit, plenty of flights go out without an empty seat and the airline still loses $$ on the flight. She agreed. Could I have gotten more or did others I dont know I got my voucher 2 hrs B4 the flight and wasnt gonna wait around to find out. I figured why be a PIG, I got $700 and a confirnation on a flight tommorrow. i was more than happy, from what I understand if they raise the ante before you accepted your voucher they have to match the higher amount. But I thought they didnt have to overbook me on tommorrows flight and they were kind enough to have, so dont press it. A friend said why didnt I stay around in case it went up, I told him to have told them dont write it up in case it goes up Ill hang around would be as if I spit in their faces, after theywent out of their way to help me with the rebooking.

When MissBumpMe! and I double and even triple bump we are always certain to get meal vouchers for each flight.
After we arrive home we then have a meal at DCA on-the-house the next night!
^ Good Luck with your bumping!

I have taken 3 bumps the same night with CO for intl flights. Made 2100 CO
bucks in one night. That allowed me to purchase a Z fare for almost no money at all.
As others have said, just ask nicely and DO NOT' pester the gate agent and you should be fine.

but, if you do break the vouchers down, remember that you can't apply two to the same ticket. only one voucher can be used per ticket.
this system is so much more onerous than the other airlines' method. on AA, you can get "change" from your voucher. i am not sure if they will let you use two vouchers per ticket.
another scam, brought to you by continental airlines. this is just like the un-customer friendly rules when it comes to giving vouchers when ticket prices go down. on AA, it's a go. on CO, it's a no.

whats funny is they told me they have to give a $500 and a $200 as they cant issue one for $700. I had no problems with one at $700 since it'll be used on an Intl tkt that will cost more than that.
According to the yellow paper, Not only isnt Transferable but as posted above no new vocher if the total amount isnt used, plus no combining of vouchers. Duh then why cant I get one for $700 it they wont let me combine the 2 they gave. I jope when I go to cash it out that they will allow both to be used on one tkt. As CO is usually alot more out of EWR anywhere in the US than if I grab a flight out of LGA/JFK/PHL/BDL so I was hoping to use them for Intl tkts where they are pretty much in line with the foreign carriers.

craz, I just caught the thread from last week about TLV airport closed.
Curious folks want to know-- how were affected by this mess? Which continent are you on now??
Any extra bumps???

Becuase I try to find flights less than $200 and the residual is "lost," a $700 voucher would force me to by a ticket I wouldn't ordinarily buy anyway.
Sure, that's what CO wants, but it's not what I need!!!
Recently, on our way to HNL we were bumped and got $500, one $400 and a $100.
Yippee!!
It's too bad CO doesn't follow DL's model, whereby the residual is reissued in the form of another voucher.
