True. I had a terrific experience a few years back on a double bump on AA. The vouchers were for $300 and $500, and I used them a few days apart to book two trips of $400+ each. They even ate a chunk of the taxes on the new tickets because they claimed I was so inconvenienced (which was hardly the case).
