Seems like someone is trying to earn a few bucks by being the middle-man.

Don't all the certificates come with one's name on them? I've got Amex Platinum so the President's Club passes were of no use, for example, with the I.D. checking at the entrances.

They are valid systemwide. The companion certificates are for the lower 48 states, Canada, and Alaska.

Correct, the PC passes have the member's name on them and admit two people to any one visit.

expiration of certificates

Are the certificates good for a year or some arbitrary amount of time?

I just got mine in the mail last week.

All the certs are good through September 2005, so it's a year from the time you purchase the pack.

You can buy one every 12 months. So if you bought one in June '04, you need to wait until June '05 to get a new one.

I find them to be of great value; I've always used the discount-off coupon and haven been able to use the companion ticket + use Elite status to upgrade that companion to 1st class without any problems.

arrival time

How long does it take to arrive in the mail? I have an upcoming trip and the PC passes would be nice...

And just so I'm clear, you'll still get miles when you use the $ off certificates?

Actually, it has to be an immediate relative. I was able to use my mother's companion ticket as long as I was able to prove my maiden name. It's a pain, but I was able to use it.
