I'm a tall Plat who plans travel about 2 days in advance. From a revenue per seat mile standpoint, I think CO wants to keep me happier than you*.

Although I seem to have decent luck snagging a desirable seat, the force is not always with me.

*in no way am I inferring or implying that I'm more important than you. I'm not. I'm the biggest schmuck there is. For all I know/care your spend on CO could be significantly higher than mine. All I'm pointing out is that those of us that book close-in usually get screwed on price and seat selection.

In the world of "no whammy no whammy no whammy" we always get the whammy.

Best. Disclaimer. Ever.

Having the seat next to you empty doesnt give you much in the way of extra leg room if the person in front of you reclines

Since CO wouldnt be selling this outright as Premium Economy I dont see any seats being left empty, just as UA doesnt sell it as a separate cabin like BA does . But BA has a completely different cabin with better seating and bigger & wider. UA simply gives the exact same seat and service only more leg room

The thing you're missing here is UA does not allow non-elite passengers to sit in these rows unless they 1) pay extra to move up or 2) all E- seats are completely filled.

Even in instance #2 - non-elite passengers are not given a seat assignment until a few minutes before boarding, in case any E- seats open up as well as allowing elites to secure the exact seats they want first.

Because of this, if there are any empty seats, they usually are in the E+ area.

Which is case in point why CO needs to restrict exit rows to CO-only and keep middles blocked as well.

That is a lot of replies to what is mostly a bad rumor....

Put me in the minority of those frequent CO travelers happy in steerage even TATL ..... but then again, I am short and slim. Having travelled E+ on UA recently I found the leg room to be too much.

I'd rather them add a few rows with more leg room. On the totem pole of making travel less miserable E+ is significantly higher than blocked middle.

Exit rows are just peachy -- for the exact same reasons E+ would be. E+ would just make that pool of tolerable seats a little deeper.

Then I am sure that you could find some tall person in E- who would happily switch seats with you. :D

Mods -- Would it be possible to change the thread title to something which indicates that this is a rumor? My heart skipped a beat when I saw the title, but I immediately knew it was a rumor when I saw that the CO Insider was not the OP. ;)

:eek:I love people who can enjoy seats in the back

Bottom line, regardless if this thread was started as a “hear-say rumor”, I’m sure there are several of us not asking “if” this is true, but rather asking “when” will they get on to it. If (or rather when) the merger begins, E+ will be duplicated (JMHO).

No. I'm a General Member DYKWIA.
I believe it's a cubic zirconium status.

Too much leg room? That's an interesting complaint. I am not tall either, but I certainly welcome the extra leg room in E+ as well as the generous leg room in C!

I miss that show and just LOVED it when they got the Whammy. Actually the dance and sayings by the whammy is what had me watching

Or have the Chase UA CC that has it as a benefit or had someone nominate them as a 3P etc etc.

As a non-UA elite without a UA CC and who has not paid for the E+ privilege in many, many years, I can assure you that there are ways beyond the above to get into those seats. I've done it plenty of times.
