Thank you to everyone who not only voted but is also spreading the word via signatures and the social networking Internet web sites about this quest for me to go to Antarctica!
I appreciate the support. Interestingly enough, I have not asked one person to amend their signature or post to such social networking Internet web sites as Facebook and Twitter. This was purely a voluntary effort on their part. Thank you to those of you who have done this!
I am currently in 19th place at 120 votes, although I was briefly in 18th place earlier this morning. The entry currently in the lead has 847 votes, so my entry has lost some ground.
I am thinking about ways on how to further spread the word so that I can eventually not only bypass the 18 entries that are ahead of me but also keep ahead of the 234 entries of which I am currently ahead. If anyone has any more suggestions, please let me know...

Alas, I completely failed in my attempt to find a TPT (Trailer Park Trash) girlfriend. Indeed, I wound up escorting my UIG (Used Italian Girlfriend) to Manhattan art galleries, trendy boutiques, museums, and restaurants which cost more than our cross-Atlantic airfare.
I even had to buy a new Ralph Lauren suit so I would be dressed well enough not to offend either her sense of fashion or that of the maitre d's at these places!
Enough! I want to be able to wear my torn jeans and Phillies sweat shirt to Waffle House amd only be concerned that I might be over-dressed.
There is, however, a glimmer of hope. I have a friend who lives in Georgia. Okay, that is not quite Alabama but it is close enough. Rumor has it that there are tons of TPT women in the Peach State. I figure that if I get him to owe me big time he will have no choice but to introduce me to a few of them.
(In fact, it will be enough if he introduces me to just one -- then I can date her sisters as well.)
Brian (yes, that is his legal name but I suspect that he is called "Bubba"), wants to go to Antarctica. I realize that makes no sense to most people (including me) but I guess that he just realizes that the weather there is a lot better than it is in Georgia.
Brian is so anxious to get there that he not only entered a contest with a trip to Antarctica as its prize but he even went so far as to have somebody photoshop a tie and jacket onto his picture to make him look presentable.
The way that Brian will win the contest is if more people vote for him than any of the other contestants.
This is where you come in. It would be a big help if all of you would go to http://www.blogyourwaytoantarctica.com/blogs/view/112 and vote for him. You are free to vote as many times as you would like but each vote requires a different e-mail address. (Oh, and you have to register at the site.)
If we can get Brian over the top and shipped off to that frozen wasteland, he will undoubtedly be so grateful to me when he returns that he will make certain that I get a guaranteed authentic Georgia Trailer Park Trash girlfriend.
(Unless, of course, he meets a particularly sexy female penguin and decides to spend the rest of his life there with her.)
Remember -- vote early and vote often. Just like they do in Chicago.

I'd have to double check my schedule, but a trip to Antarctica would be hard to refuse. I'd be grateful to be chosen as a traveling companion.

For those who are not aware, in the drop-down menu under "Thread Tools" at the upper right of each forum page, you can select "Suggest This Thread For TalkMail" and it is sent directly to the HOM's.
I did so a couple days ago and hope that Mikel at WebFlyer, who writes TalkMail every month, will pick up on this thread.

OK people lets take this in stages. Right now, when you sort the entries by popularity, Canarsie is number 19. They way they format their web pages, the top 14 get listed on the first page. He's just 32 votes behind number 14.
Lets get him to the first page, then we can start moving him up a row at a time.

I've just tried to register a few more times and again have not received confirmation emails. The cause of this appears to be the fact that their system is sending these emails with a fictitious address in the headers ('[email protected]') - I've contacted them to see if they can change that which will hopefully fix the issue....
