Don't worry Henry (whichever of the 3 is reading this). We certainly don't discriminate anyone based on their mental health status. We use to act around psychokillers as you would do in front of a hungry lion (in a cage :p) and the paranoia moments of the BooDoos are remembered for years and years...

Holy cow! Walk away from this thead for a short while, only top discover it has taken a strange turn.
If this is turning into a fancy dress costume event, I call "The Queen of Hearts". I've always been partial to that characer, thinking it such a simple straightforward way to go about. ^
Alfredo, you can be my pikeman. ;)

Finally, booked!

Well, I hate disrupting the flow of this thread (not that it is difficult to do!) :p, but I'm finally booked!

I was able to take advantage of a couple of things...
1. I had what I call "orphan" miles in Delta (30k) and NW (39k).
2. With the current capability to combine/transfer miles, I was able to bring them all into my Delta account (69k).
3. With the current Delta buy miles offer (100% bonus) I was able to buy 16k miles (and get a 16k bonus) for $473.
4. And with 100k I was able to get a business class ticket from DFW-to-BCN via AMS.

Arriving BCN on Thursday, October 29 @ 2:25 PM via KLM.
Departing BCN on Wednesday, November 4 @ 3:20 PM via KLM (overnight stay in AMS on the way back...which is fine by me!)

Well played.^ Glad to have you on board officially!

For those of you on the party flight, is there a plane change in Madrid for IB6252? I only ask because I can get on 6252 to Madrid, but then 6740 to BCN, which interestingly arrives at the exact same time as "6252".

Come to think of it, maybe after 9 hours with you guys JFK-MAD, a different flight into BCN may be just what the doctor ordered. ;)

And what the heck is a pikeman??

missydarlin Mar 30, 2009 6:59 pm

looks like its the same to me... IB doesn't offer a 6252 if you just search for MAD-BCN. Sorry, but you'll be stuck with us all the way there ;)

That's just IB 'code-melting' strategy. IB6252 is officially JFK-MAD, but they sell you IB6252 JFK-BCN (1 stop), which means you get to MAD and you jump into IB6740 for the domestic leg...that way they put all the domestic connections under the same flight code and of course, they don't give you miles and/or status segments for the domestic flights :-)

Yup. I did it back on Jan, on the way back to the US. Had a BCN-JFK same flight # but you have to change planes in MAD. It's a A340 to cross the pond, but usually a A320/A321 for the MAD-BCN leg.

AA posted the miles separately tho:

Date Transaction Description* Mileage Bonus Total
01/04/09 IBERIA AIRLINES 6501 Y BCN MAD 90 335 425
01/04/09 AMERICAN AIRLINES 6251 Y MAD JFK 3,589 3,589 7,178

I thought it was too coincidental that there were two flights MAD-BCN arriving at the exact same time.

So looks like I'll be with the party gang the whole ride to BCN. You're stuck with missydarlin.

There's going to be some serious pre-flight drinking going on is someone's lounge!
