I'm not going to be able to attend the Cabbage Do in late August, but will be making a dash up to ANC over July 4th weekend, arriving 2 July (1:18 pm) and departing 4 July (8:16 pm). If anyone is interested in meeting for an early dinner on the 2nd or 4th, please let me know.

He leaves a few hours before the fireworks go off. Don't they go off just before midnight on the [night of the] 4th?

...which were surprisingly pleasant. I wouldn't waste my time with the 2008 Merlot (we have so far been unable to find the 2006 Merlot, which was the subject of much praise on FT, here in Anchorage; the '08 was drinkable but unspectacular, though age may benefit it), but the 2008 (?) Napa Cabernet was surprisingly good (especially given the $11 price point). The one I was very surprised by was the 2008 Chateauneuf-du-Pape. It is young yet, but in time it will make a very fine wine...at an under $20 price point. Even now, it was a pleasure to drink. I will be heading over to Costco in the not-too-distant-future to pick myself up a few bottles.
dhammer53's loss...
Both from Windsor Vineyards in California. The Carignane (2007) is one of my favorites. Highly recommended.
Second, third, fourth, and fifthing this. Bob, your generosity and hospitality (and whatever else beckoa was trying to say while drunk-typing above
) is unmatched. Not everyone would slave away (OK, drive across town twice
) on a phenomenal 10-hour brisket, drop unsolicited fundage on a fine flight of wine, and then allow us to take over your dining room and living room for an entire night. Please know you are much appreciated.
