We saw I am Legend on Christmas Day... it was OK... not really scary.
Oh wait... it was filmed in NYC... is that scary enough?

I am sure the hospitals were running over that day, I spoke to everyone I passed on the street. I had a blast! They were flipping out! Oh well! Do you think that why NYC is scary now? Oh dear!: eek:

I am sure I do! Don't know the $$'s in their bank account, but know they must rich because of their generosity.
Movie of choice, let me think. There is the new movie with Will Smith, "I am Legend", heard it is scary. There are some click flicks, but the other half might not go for that. (it is supposed to be a date) I need something Romantic . . .
Maybe my Secret Santa has some ideas!

Romantic? I guess that rules out Sweeney Todd, doesn't it?
What about Charlie Wilson's War?

Hi,
My second SS arrived today, some fine coffee samples, and a book on Nordic walking... Must have been reading my mind! Time to get a little bit fitter in the new year.
Thanks,
Aidan

Apologies to both of my secret santas for being slow to post here... I received both gifts a few days before x-mas, opened them on x-mas, and love them all! SS1: USB gadgets from ThinkGeek (thank you!); SS2: Luggage tag photo album, travel organizer, and paper airplane calendar for 2008 (thank you!).
Also, thanks again to Wharvey for all of his hard work on this!

This is my first chance to post since returning home to open my SS gift.
My Alaskan SS sent me a wonderful little etching of a sea otter (seal?) on bone. He (the sea otter, not my SS) is currently sitting on our fireplace mantel staring back at me
If my SS happens to read this, I'd dearly love further information on this piece - who drew it, what materials were used...
Thank you for such a unique and wonderful gift.
Happy New Year to all.

Though he set out in plenty of time, Santa took time to get over here where we don't celebrate Christmas. What he dropped off was very thoughtful! I've wandered around Penzeys Spices in awe but never knew what to try. Now I have a collection of stuff to experiment with! And with the kind of travel I do, I can always use more stuff to help pack! Thanks Santa!
NB Santa isn't the only one that has traveled slowly this season. I got a birthday card yesterday which was postmarked in the US on November 17!

I'm having fun reading what all the SS recipients received!
And for those who wonder where stuff is - as others have mentioned, people travel, the various shipping services aren't necessarily fast (my sister sent something on the 17th that arrived on 12/31), folk are offline during the holidays, etc. If you don't hear by Feb then it's time to get a bit irritated, but before then just go w/ the flow. That excludes the person who has said point blank they're not participating after saying they would (very bad form).
Cheers.

Sorry, but I disagree. The deadline is 25 December as far as I'm concerned, otherwise it's not Santa, right? Seriously, people have months before Christmas to deal with this, I don't understand why it's so difficult to make sure something arrives on or before Christmas.

I had someone sign up on December 18th and she had no problem getting her gift out in time... and actually stepped up and sent another person a gift who had posted they had not received a gift. She is a true gift to this community.
I have very concerned over the number of gifts that have not been acknowledges.... while I only have three people who have not acknowledged sending their gifts.... I still have about 30 people who have not acknowledged getting their gifts....
I am also concerned over the number of people who have not responded whatsoever to my messages... especially since I can see that they read them.
I will be sending out another set of reminder messages tonite....
Unfortunately, I feel an obligation to continually followup to try and ensure everyone gets a gift...either from their assigned santa, a substitute santa, or me. So, people taking until February, March... or July as it has happened the past few years really does not allow me to "close" out the year.
As I have said many time, I apologize to the people who met the requirements and encourage those who have not done so to do so quickly.
I do have to say, however, I am encouraged by the number of people who had an outstanding experience... and the time some people took to research to ensure they got something appropriate for their person.
Go figure.... Only 9-10 months before it starts again....

William

A Second box from my SS
Today I received a Second box from my most generous Secret Santa. The box was loaded with everything to make my day perfect.
Two cuddly pairs of socks, one even matches my scrubs. The other is 'Pink' I think I'll wear that one when I need to feel 'Pretty'! I also received my favorite flavor of Dale and Thomas Popcorn, Chocolate Chunk N' Caramel along with Twice-As-Chocolate Drizzle Corn! YUMMY! To top that off a huge bag of Chocolate Covered Pretzels from PA. Hum, PA?
I know you are all jealous and uh, well, you should be!
Thanks!

My last Secret Santa gift, received just shortly after Christmas, was obviously engineered by an incredibly thoughtful person. I received a plethora (6+) of books relating to herbs and cooking in addition to a "Grandma Gift" of a gift bag of shaving products which although many might find dumb, I found actually intriguing and am looking forward to trying out.
I am grateful for having so many thoughtful Secret Santas this year, and embarrassed that I did not put more effort into my own targets. I can only hope that they either enjoy their gifts or are not shy about returning them for store credits.

One of my gifts was sent w/o delivery confirmation through a 3rd party, unfortunately.. and that person has yet to post any kind of comment specific to the gift. It may not seem like a lot but pls mention if you've received something .. I'm not sure if it was ever delivered.

According to my records, all three of your Santas have responded to me that they received their gifts.
