not really, half hour walk to dupont, woodley park, foggy bottom, or rosslyn

but plenty of parking in the neighborhood on tunlaw road, 37th street, and on the side streets west of wisconsin ave, when I lived a few blocks away, I never got a ticket or paid to park

Sounds like a real possibility. My +2 are backing out (making it a +1 for me) and as it is our first time in DC we'd sure like to see some local wildlife

Also - question:
Town Hall is near Georgetown, yes? Is it reasonable that Ms. Tkey75 and I would be able to walk around the campus before meeting at the spot? Any tips would be appreciated.

I think that is a pretty long walk. The part of Gtown that is closest to Glover Park is the hospital and medical school. There is really not much to see up in that area. The historic areas are down the hill toward M street from there. It is walkable, but will probably take 20+mins.

I'd end up taking a cab, but in the words of Krusty the Clown, "I'm a lazy lazy man." There is also frequent bus service for $1.35 up Wisconsin Ave. Since there is no Metro in that area, the buses over there aren't the freak show they are in most of the rest of DC.

Also, just to clarify for everyone (I think there's some confusion) this is a DC Happy Hour...drink (or eat) at your leisure. You can order food in the bar area where we'll be...they have a great menu! We hope everyone will hang out as late as they can...I had just mentioned that we might be gone by
11pm due to sitter issues & early Saturday obligations but we hope everyone will hang out as late as they want-it's a fun place!

Thanks for the tip. I'll have a car which will make it easier.

In that case, your biggest problem will be finding parking in G-Town. It's a pain, but not as bad as some would have you believe.

HAHA!! After living in Boston for so long, neither parking nor traffic intimidates me.

The 30's buses (e.g. 30, 32, 33, 36) all leave from the McPherson/Farragut area, and will take you there. They run along I St & Penn Av downtown, then M St in Georgetown, before heading up Wisc Av.

Actually, I find Georgetown to be the best neighborhood for parking - it's so residential that you can find parking somwhere. Much much better than say Adams Morgan, or the Penn Qtr.

Plus, it's all pretty much uphill.

the glover park neighborhood just to the south and west of tunlaw road usually has plenty of free parking, mostly within a 10 min walk of the restaurant

generally would not try to park east, or right if coming up from georgetown, of wisconsin ave

also if you don't like walking, wouldn't go further south than t street

Just an FYI, Town Hall has free parking.
I believe it's with validation but my sister has mentioned that there is usually not even an attendant later at night.

This is from Town Hall's home page:

We provide free parking across the street from the restaurant (USA parking behind the Washington Sports Club)...

If you are heading north, Town Hall is on your left and the parking garage/Wash Sports Club is on your right just past it.

No problem

Also (for everyone attending), I have reserved a table at the bar for 6:30pm Friday under 'Flyer Talk'. It should be in the main bar where you come in.

Anyone else that can make it, please post so I can update Town Hall if we need a bigger table.

I can think of dozens of neighborhoods with easier parking.
It's all timing. 6:20 to 7:00 is easy after that it is tough many places. Neither here nor there, but I find Chinatown/Penn Quarter to be as frustating as Adams Morgan. G-town is bad but not as bad as dupont. It's all relative.
