I am not going to be able to make this event, as it turns out that I'll be in Iowa that Saturday evening.

From Former A2 resident--Be there or B Square!

gotta love a great town like Ann Arbor-- and our partner- "Automobile Magazine" is based there.

Local Notes--Zingermans (Famous but not NYC, $$$$$); Gabriel's Hoagies, east of Ypsilanti (better than Phili); Motel 6, just south of I94, (low-$) the place to stay; Camping: 20 miles away & bad. In grocery stores get some Habitat Pea Soup--true comfort food, and Vernors ginger ale, perch & walleye (cook 'em secretly in motel or buy 'em at restarants). And there's Ypsi's Depot Town-- every joint has great burgers. One served Bill Clinton well.

Best restaurant--the fabulous Common Grill in Dexter, 10 miles west of A2. Reserve soon.

Best!

Count me in

Welp, I had the hotel and car reservation from back in February, just in case... and I just bought my flight, so put me down for both dinner and brunch.
I'll depend on the 2A expert FTers to show me around!

Just a quick reminder regarding RSVPs:
  • [*]

Thanks! I just want to avoid any potential confusion between the two separate "reservation systems".

Be aware that said Motel 6 charges $85.99/night for 2 people that weekend.

The myth of Motel 6 being forever cheap is long gone. Kinda like the myth about Southwest always having the lowest fares. But I digress...

Folks who haven't booked a hotel yet, please DOUBLE CHECK YOUR E-MAIL FROM LAST WEEK --- the deal is still working right now!!

Cyllabus and davakkar, you both have new mail.

If anyone else is coming to Ann Arbor and needs a hotel, but hasn't RSVPed on the thread (i.e. name isn't in the first post), e-mail me and I'll share this little hotel promo I found.

For those of you confirmed attendees that haven't tried this yet, I just had it work today - I had to try twice, but it did finally go through. Your best bet is to try it during business hours CDT.

For those who are taking advantage of this hotel promo, we could start a list of people staying there for carpooling and other ride sharing ideas:

Days Inn - Ann Arbor
SchmutzigMSP (Sat. nite)
davakkar (presumably Sat. nite?)

Hi guys, I'm still trying to work out details for coming to the MR/Art Fair ... would love to fly in Sat. morning, stay the evening, then fly out Sunday evening. I would like to carpool to cut down costs too Will cement things down soon!

Yes, I'll be arriving mid-morning on Saturday into DTW and renting a car. Depending on time and room availability, I may stop by to drop off my bags and such. My flight info is available on the MR registration page.
I leave on Sunday evening at 6pm-ish from DTW.

If anyone needs a ride, please contact me. I'm more than happy to carpool (preferably with someone who knows their way around AA!)

If I needed to be at DTW (Smith terminal) by 4:45pm on Sunday, and had to return a rental car at DTW, what time would A2 locals suggest I leave A2?
