We are really going to try hard to go.

I will throw out Rosa Mexicana or Clyde's at Gallery Place as a suggestion.

Cap City Brewery Union Station?

How about the Cap City Brewery next to Union Station. Save our guests a schlep on the subway. Plus they DO have beer, which I understand some Aussies have a fondness for.

Where ever, count me in.

I wouldn't drive here but isn't there a big parking garage connected to Union Station?
Rosa Mexicano gets mixed reviews for food but good for margaritas and wine. ^

But no beer buzz for the Aussies.

As long as the Kokonutz guy is not allowed to try anything more than 2% strength.

The wimp passed out in LAX and missed his redeye flight and slept all night at the airport. Those 10% alcohol Belgium Dracula's Blood lagers were the ruin of him.

I mean for a nation weaned on Bud Light, Pepsi Lite, and Miller Lite, anything above 3% is getting to be heavy duty I'd guess?

I have this vivid memory of one of my mother's brothers visiting us in Colorado many years ago. Her brothers were war heroes, firemen, construction guys, etc. Anyway, my father brings him a beer and my uncle drinks it down and asks why he got the ginger ale, didn't they have any real beer here? It all seemed very mystical to me as a young'un, it wasn't until later that I understood the complex cultural exchange that was taking place. And yes, the beer in question was Coors 3.2%.

It is two stops/three minutes down the Red Line, at Gallery Pl-Chinatown (also a stop for the Yellow Line from DCA). This Clyde's is sports-themed, as you might expect given its location. They have a wider beer selection than Cap City.

If parking is a worry, Chinatown is probably not the best choice. Over by Union Station are also the Dubliner and Kelly's (not very Irish) Irish Times.

Irish (fake or real!) is also fine with us - whatever you folks suggest.

If anyone reading this is subway savvy .. can you tell me if I can get a direct train from Union Station to Naval Medical Center station in MD? We need to go there Thurs June 1 for dinner with a friend, who does not have a clue about the rail system, so I figgered someone here would be more practical use! @:-)

Also as Margaret has never been to DC we should probably buy an Entertainment Book I think. What expirty date do the USA book coupons have? (i.e. Here they all expire June 30 annually).

Yes, both stops are on the red line so you won't have to change trains. Here's a link to a metro map:

I have requested to work June 2. If I don't get the shift, I will try to make this

ozstamps, here's the link to the subway map. You can back up the URL to get to the main site. As you can see it's a straight shot from Union Station to the Medical Center.
