Congrats to SeaMonkee!

Congrats to SM! First place, but no shirt. DCGators 2nd, Kokonutz 3rd.

We need to keep the running win totals updated. I thought QL was going to add it to the first post, but didn't see anything. (Last week has not been added)

No shirt? That's just no fun at all... that's the whole reason I'm playing!

The best advice I can give is to learn the math, get to know some basic tells, and practice a lot. Tournaments make for cheaper practice than cash games, I think. A good place to learn the math and some basic strategy is by reading books like Doyle Brunson's Super System and Super System 2. The math is explained in Detail in David Sklansky's books (Theory of Poker, Hold'Em for Advanced Players, etc).

This is all fine and good, but I find the best strategy is to act totally inconsistently, counter-intuitively and randomly. Go all-in on a 2-7 off suit. Fold pocket queens. Always wait for the flush on the river. Check-raise QuietLion [ducking].

;)

I was watching last night from the peanut gallery and really enjoyed the quality of play. There were some amazing runs from being short-stacked to doubling up by a number of people. I think I also remember SeaMonkey feigning weakness and checking on both the turn and the river only to trap her opponent into raising into her pocket pair and winning the pot. The amount of full houses in the heads-up round was amazing as well. Congrats to all who played and thanks for the lessons. ^

I somewhat agree with koko on this, as far as being a little unpredictable so that the table cannot read you so easily.

I dunno about folding pocket Qs ...

Congrats SMonkee and the others. I have finished FOURTH in two straight tourneys--much more frustrating hump to cross, since it's out of the money.

Totally my own fault, though. Next week, the goal will be to play smarter, instead of fritter away a nice chip lead and go all-in on a draw. Stupid, stupid.

Always a fun time, though.

Dont sweat it: I went out looking for a straight flush river draw. That has got to be the saddest, most silly all-in EVER. I would look up the odds, but let's just call them pathetic.

It IS always fun. Hopefully more people will discover the tourney as time goes on!!!

Worst....cards....ever!

Well as the rest of the players can attest, I spent most of my tourney folding, folding and folding some more. Hard to win when you get something like 9 2 offsuit every hand :D ;) :p

I am exceptionally bitter ;) but I will return for vengeance!
Congrats to this weeks winners - a good time as always! :) ^
