Will they really outlaw Online Poker...

Wanted a professional opinion from someone......How am I supposed to turn pro if they outlaw online Poker???? SO wanted to know if you think this will really happen (outlawing poker, not me becoming a pro....?)

Move to Vegas... poker is completely legal there and you can play all night against all the tourists. They're not outlawing poker, they're outlawing the ability to transfer money electronically to online gambling sites. Big difference.

The new Federal law does not make any form of online gambling illegal that wasn't already illegal. No one has ever been prosecuted for operating an online poker room, let alone playing, and the predominant legal opinion in the industry is that there is no Federal law against online poker, only sports betting. Several states have banned online gambling, some including poker, including my home state of Washington, but there has never been a prosecution. Howver, I don't play for money when in Washington State and am considering moving.

This is stupid.. Poker's already perfectly legal in California. Who are the Feds to tell me that it's not legal?

Tourney reminder

...tourney starts in 2 hours, and I'm the only one registered... maybe this reminder will help folks. :)

I haven't seen QL in awhile though.... I was hoping to win a T-shirt one of these days. :(

Seems like the new laws really killed this - it was fun while it lasted. :(

Full Tilt and Bodog still take deposits from the US, but you also have to have a credit card whose issuer will approve the transactions. I have one Visa that works on Bodog, but they don't have a Mac client, and I've only got one PC at home.

Full Tilt has a Mac client, so I can play on the road, but none of my credit cards work there. I have had uccess with getting a "prepaid visa" from WalMart or a supermarket, activating it, and then using it to load my Full Tilt Account.

Of course that was a one-time thing for me since I've been playing off my winnings ever since. :D

If anyone plays at Full Tilt send me a PM. I'm traveling next week so I should have down time in the evenings to see some flops.

The short version:
"Technically, the new law does not make it illegal to play poker on the Internet. Instead, it makes it illegal for any bank, credit card company or other financial intermediary to process transfers to or from an Internet gaming site.

In other words, there is no practical, safe way to legally deposit money into your PokerStars account to play in a tournament or take money out if you win. "

Hidden Motive

It is quite obvious that transaction wont be carried out through cheques. So think there is some hidden motive behind this move
