The FlyerTalk Poker Tournament

Come join us for our weekly FlyerTalk poker tournament!

Site: Full Tilt Poker
Date: Every Wednesday Evening
Time: 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT)
Buy in: $10+$1
Game: No-Limit Hold 'Em
Password: arturo (you will need this to register)

You will need to have $11 in your real money account to play this tournament. It is already open for registration, so if you're going to be a little late you can sign up and you will be blinded off until you arrive. Once the tournament starts registration is closed.

To install Full Tilt Poker software on your PC:

Click on this link if you want me to get credit for your signup (or go directly to the web site if you don't) and then click the download button on the site.

To get money into your account:

The best way is to set up a Neteller account and use the Instacash option to get money into Full Tilt. Full Tilt pays the commission for your first Instacash deposit. After that you may want to use the regular free checking deposit.

If you have a non-US Visa or Mastercard you may be able to use it directly to deposit. Most US cards will not work although some debit cards will. You can use EPassporte to create a non-US vitrual Visa and then use that to fund your account. EPassporte charges a minimum of $5 to do this.

To register for the tournament:

1. After logging in, click on the Tournaments Tab near the top of the window.
2. Underneath the tournament list is are more tabs. Click on "Private."
3. Look for a Hold 'Em tournament at 21:00 on the right date. If I am registered the room will be in red, which makes it easier to see.
4. Double-click on the tournament listing.
5. Click on "Register" near the top of the window. You will need money in your account and the password (above).

Good luck!

Any questions, feel free to email me.

Hmmmmm....will there be any semi-professionals in the tourney!??!?

I will be preparing for Trivia in SEA, but will do my darnest to participate!

QuietLion Aug 9, 2005 1:36 pm

I've already registered and, barring disaster, will play. :)

Yes, the OP for one. ;)

pbiflyer Aug 9, 2005 6:09 pm

I will be on a plane unfortunately - this is flyer talk after all. :p

But count me in for any future tournaments. I think it should be a regular thing.

I dunno...$22 with a $2 rake seems awwwfully steep! If I play from Green Lake will I have to pass through a cheesy poker trade show??

jcooke Aug 10, 2005 7:51 am

I think I'll be in for it.

stimpy Aug 12, 2005 12:49 am

This does sound like a great idea, but like others I'm traveling then - CDG-NRT. Hopefully some other time.

civicmon Aug 12, 2005 1:02 am

the inventor of this idea is out - my boss scheduled me to work and i can't get out of it.

hopefully this will become semi-regular so I can participate later.

i'll continue to promote it though since I do think it's a good idea.

stef315 Aug 12, 2005 3:45 am

Yeah, I'd love to play. I even have an account at Full Tilt (among many others) already! I'll be in Austin that week and that's the day I hoped to see a singer perform. :( I'll play if I don't end up going. I've watched Quiet Lion play...I think I can beat him!! haha...joking

Randy Petersen Aug 12, 2005 7:42 am

i moved this thread from OMNI so more members could see it. It is after all, an FT event and looks like fun.

(for others, i'm not endorsing gambling by moving this thread here...)

Seat1A Aug 12, 2005 7:51 am

i'm home next week, so i'll try to make it... if i'm there, i'll be playing under the name "MillionMiles".

BiziBB Aug 12, 2005 8:10 am

Thank you

Thank you QuietLion for this thread, thank you to the person with the original proposal, and thank you Randy for moving it out of OMNI so that newbies like me without status/access can also become involved.

QuietLion I hope that you will include this tournament in your Blog, which is great reading. I don't know if I'll be awake at the time of this tourney, so will try to be there if I'm awake and available away from work deadlines.

This is yet another fun dimension to the FT community- thank you to everyone who has helped me this month.

It's going to be sooooo... cool

Unfortunately I need to be in Michigan at a customer's site :(

Will try to catch it some other day

aisleorwindow Aug 12, 2005 10:12 am

Cool! I should be able to play in this tourney.
Is there any limit to the number of FTers that can enter?

QuietLion Aug 12, 2005 11:00 am

I think the limit is 900.

Poker Tournament = ^

Non-Mac-compatible poker tournament = :td:

Anybody know if Full Tilt is Mac-compatible? It wasn't last time I checked (and yes QuietLion, I know you're sponsored there (I think?) so it was a natural choice)

I'm in for sure if I can do it from my hotel with my PowerBook, otherwise I'll have to wait for one during work hours when I have access to a PC :D

MKE-MR Aug 12, 2005 11:44 am

PS I saw QL on TV the other day during the San Diego WSOP Qualifier, I think.

QuietLion Aug 12, 2005 12:36 pm

Full Tilt is compatible... it's the Mac that isn't. :D

QL

oldandslow Aug 12, 2005 3:53 pm

Maybe not now, but soon

I'll be on a plane at that time (what a surprise...) but I look forward to the next one.

Ah, my bad. I didn't realize Full Tilt had been around for longer than the Mac ;)

If there is a second tourney (for those who can't make this one?)
I propose Poker Room. It seems to be reputable, uses Neteller just like Full Tilt, and is Mac-friendly.

stef315 Aug 12, 2005 4:29 pm

I don't like Poker Room much. I think Ultimate Bet is pretty reputable but I'm not sure they offer the tournaments with passwords. Theirs you have to submit the day before who is going to play I believe. Poker Stars has the same kind of private tournament though where you just register by entering a password.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Full Tilt though. It's reputable if that's a concern. There are so many pros involved their names would be dirt if there were "issues".

QuietLion Aug 12, 2005 4:56 pm

Can't Macs run PC software these days?

Be careful, Seat1A, I did last longer than you at Mauro's house at our "no limit" tourney :D

P.S. How's Things?

obscure2k Aug 13, 2005 6:41 pm

Sounds like fun. Where do I go for poker lessons prior to the tournament. Have never played in my life.

Go to Yahoo! Games http://games.yahoo.com/, they have poker rooms in there, a good place to practice.

MetalDoggy Aug 14, 2005 10:55 am

Ho hum - maybe when I'm in a more conducive time zone (and a place where it's legal too). I enjoy reading your blog QL - say hi if you see me on Full Tilt ever - I lurk on the play money tables coz they ain't illegal in Hong Kong...

Hunnybear Aug 15, 2005 3:34 pm

I'm pretty sure I'll be in, and you should all now be very scared. SeaMonkee takes no prisoners - Fear the Monkee!! :D

Hunnybear Aug 15, 2005 3:35 pm

Can non-players watch the tournament?

I doubt you can use it directly. You should be able to use any card via ePassporte.
