Nope, US makes their ART fares too unrealistic. For example, on May 9-16, ART-PIT starts at $414 r/t. SYR-PIT on the same dates starts at $296. Only reason the airport is still in business is because of Fort Drum. No airfare is too expensive when the military is buying the ticket!

Some people were asking about parking their cars- It should be safe. Watertown as a city is pretty crime free, as a matter of fact we were listed in the top 5 as safest places near military bases to live.

Amazing... I actually was looking at MSS fares last week and found fares going there as low as $250 round trip (incl tax) from JAX.

MSS I can understand more than ART...Massena really IS in the middle of nowhere! However, SYR-JAX is running at $194 r/t (inc tax) on UA, NW, US, and FlyI. There was talk of starting an airline using Dash 8s based in MSS that would fly direct to BUF and ALB, however I'm not sure if that is still in the works or not.

Just out of curiosity- how many people (besides FTers) were on your PIT-ART-PIT flights? It would be interesting to find out how many people are flying into and out of ART on any given day....

It was about 17 out of 19 seats outbound from PIT.... I think six of us got off in Watertown, only two of us FTers. There was a large group going to Massena on board.

Coming back to Pittsburgh, four or five boarded in ART. About 8 people already on board the plane inbound from MSS.

Watertown (ART) is in the middle of nowhere. Be prepared to cab it or rent a car. If you are lucky, you might get a hotel room if you book ahead of time, although be prepared not to if something is going on at Fort Drum. When Ft Drum gets an influx of soldiers and their housing isn't available...guess what??? They stay in hotels. The mall sucks. Sackets Harbor and Alexandria Bay are both nice, but again, you need to have vehicle transportation. Nothing is in walking distance from Arsenal Street motels and there are not sidewalks, so pedestrians beware.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to waste time flying into this place unless you had a good reason to.

And, yes, if you are going to Watertown during winter months, you will freeze your butt off and more than likely your flight will be delayed/cancelled.

I have a feeling I know the answer, but is there any bus/public transit/anything in Watertown?
Any way to get to Canada without renting a car?

Snow flurries around Labor Day.

Anyone who booked nested trips during the winter is asking for trouble.

For those wishing to rent from Enterprise, they sent me an email offer that works at their Watertown location:

http://enterprise.com/car_rental/dee...EMCMR3&cnty=CA

$9.99/day weekends for an economy car (150 miles/day)
$19.99/day weekends for a compact with unlimited mileage in the following areas: NY-NJ-CT-NH-VT-ME-RI-MA-MD-PA-OH-DE, ONTARIO, QUEBEC.
OR
10% off web rates for other rentals (eg $25.10 for a compact)

You may want to consider booking online and then calling to arrange pickup/delivery to airport.
