Ramada & Days Inn both will shuttle you to & From Airport

Ramada Inn (6300 Arsenal Road. Watertown , New York), directly accross the street from the world famous and critically acclaimed Salmon Run Mall, also has a free watertown airport shuttle service (you need to note your need in your reservation). The Mall has a couple of large anchor stores, for example:

Get your huntin and fishin stuff at:
MINNEAPOLIS, June 17, 2004 Watertown, N.Y., area residents in search of great hunting, fishing and camping merchandise need look no further. Gander Mountain, an outdoor retailer based in Minnesota, plans to open a 55,000 square foot store to guests in Watertown in September 2004... The Gander Mountain store will open in the old Ames building and anchor the Salmon Run Mall.
There is a JC Penney store also in the mall. Watertown, you're in the big time, baby! Watertown is a veritable shopping mecca.

Ontario Place Hotel, Sackets Harbor also has an Airport Shuttle

Just thought I might add that this is another option for those who don't want to rent a car or take an adventure in the Watertown "taxi".

They also would like to know your arrival and departure times ahead of time.

Yes. I believe somewhere in this thread it says that if you call Enterprise (the name of the E.prise guy is also given somewhere in this sthread) they will leave keys for you.

Note that even though this thread is getting cumbersome it has valuable info in many of the posts. I think all those questions are answered somewhere. Maybe I will do a "consolidation" thread?

Sightseeing
It's a really short drive (30-40 mins) to the Thousand Islands region which is quite nice. Brockville and Gananoque are both quaint on the Canadian side. Alexandria Bay, on the New York side, is beautiful this time of years and the boat tours are a must.

Bonnie Castle, http://www.bonniecastle.com/, is generally regarded to be one of the nicer hotels in Alexandria Bay, but it's a bit long in the tooth. Double check to ensure it's been kept up. The hotels in the Gananoque/Brockville are also aging. The natural beauty of the Thousand Islands has been a tourist draw but they haven't put in any new hotels in a long time. The Glenn House Resort in Gananoque, http://www.glenhouseresort.com/, has perhaps the nicest location on the Canadian side.

Kingston across the Canadian border (~1 hr) is nice any time of year. Ottawa (1 3/4 hrs, also Canada) is particularly nice in the winter. Montreal (~2 1/2 hrs) is very nice.

Plenty to do in Syracuse as well.

MKE-MR thank you for keeping my name from being toast at home. I've deleted the erroneous remarks. Can you tell I'm a West Coast girl?

SEA to ART and Back

Well, I went to ART yesterday and am currently waiting for my return flight to SEA at the pittsburgh airport (Loving the free wifi , btw)

ART, hmmm where to start.

Nice enough little town.

I took a cab to the econlodge for $10 one way. The cabbie said he calls the airport and gets an estimate of the number of people coming in and decides if he thinks he'll get a fare by going there and waiting.

So, in my case i was on the ground 2 mins before i was in the cab and on my way.

The econolodge is a DUMP ( IMHO )

it was cheap though $45 incl taxes etc. (+ $20 rt cab fare)

To that end, ANY other hotle that can be had for approx $65 to $75 including rt rides to the airport should be considered a tremendous VALUE.

Let me reiterate. The ECONOLODGE is a DUMP. ( Done ranting, )

Bennys, the Italian steakhouse in the parking lot had a good meal, although i found it expensive at $25 incl tip for the meal i ate. (6oz steak, 1/2 slice lasagna and 1 manicoti ) it did include bread and a salad and i had one beer.

Overall the food was good and the service was pleasant.

Walked to the mall this morning and mingled around in the shops. (No wifi anywhere)

The flight into and out of ART on the Beechcraft was exciting since it was Windy and as another poster previously stated they tend to leave the cockpit door open. The view out the windshield might make someone wet their pants during a windy landing.

The Pittsburgh airport is nice and has MANY restaurants to choose from and Smoking ( i Do) is allowed in many of them too.

Considering it was my first time on US, i have been pleasantly suprised that all of the satfff members i have been in contact with have benn VERY nice and professional.

Of course, getting Comped to Silver and scoring UG's both ways in and out of SEA didnt hurt their stock in my book.

I signed the Picnic table in ART (Against my better judgement)

The picninc table had been signed by two other FT'ers.

"Frank" from SEA on 5/4 ( I think ) and a twosome ( *** & Michelle????) on may first.

The TSA staff in ART were friendly and polite, although you can tell they are "very dedicated and by the book" kinda folks. This is afterall a Good thing as far as i am concerned.

I know "the drill" and therefore take the appropriate steps to comply and therefore avoid Secondary screenings when i travel.

Thats really all i can think of right now. Overall a fun trip

I will update anything neccessary when i get home to SEA tonight.

Call the hotel direct. Free van. Picked up by Murray. He's aces. He owns the place.

He'll give us a $60 rate. Ask for the COMMERCIAL' rate.
315 646-8000. I also posted to the mileage run thread.

This place is a half-step above the dumpy places, and lots friendlier. He even gave me a tour of Sackets Harbor. Nice little old town.
