I'm in SAN over the 4th of July weekend...but I am fairly certain I'll be around on the 11th - post your details when you get the chance & I'll try to meet up with you for a drink or something.

Viajero Joven will be doing a Mileage Run Seminar in DC on August 6 - a Saturday. If you've ever been confused about how to plan & book a MR & the principles of fare rules & routings, try to make this event. I didn't know jack about MR's until VJ's seminar back in 2003 & after 3-4 hours with him & the rest of the group, it all made sense.

Not sure about the details or location, only the date's been set, but if you're in DC & you want to get a better understanding of how MRs work, he's the man to teach. See the thread stickied at the top of the MR Forum.

I get into IAD at 7:45. Staying in Alexandria. Hmm...I'd thought I got in earlier. Oh well--a late drink? :P

29 is OK for me as I fly out on 30th to Vancouver for Canada and Independence day weekend. There are 2 brew pubs in Ballston Common Mall.

I dont know about Ballston mall...

1. I am not a big fan of Baileys!

2. Rock Bottom - would have loved it - But 29th being a Wednesday it would be CRAZY! Their Wednesday happy hour is $1 beers - and the place is packed to the hilt. I dont remember the timing of the happy hour though.

Alternative suggestion - we never did do Coastal Flats that GA has been suggesting for sometime - I haven't been there yet. Although Sid - that unfortunately is not close to a metro stop but I am sure we can figure something out.

Who do we have in for now?

I'll be attending a convention in DC from June 25-30, and would love to meet some of "THE most organised and friendly Flyertalkers from any region of the USA." :D

I will be staying at the Capitol Hilton, and won't have a car, so someplace easily accessible by via Metro would be great.

It depends on the time for me. I have an Arabic class in Sterling, VA from 6-7 so I probably couldn't be anywhere until about 7:30pm. Otherwise, I'm definitely in. I advocate for an iDine location on principle. So we can get miles whilst discussing them. :p

peace,
~Ben~

The 29th works for me as well.

FWIW, there is a Chevy's in the Ballston mall as well - the Margaritas are not as good as at Lauriol, though.

I'll be a tentative for June 29 - I may have my second work trip ever during that time frame - of course, it'll be a drive up to Harrisburg, PA with a coworker for a few days...not sure if it'll be that week or the week after the 4th of July.

How about Whitlow's on Wilson? ... anyone ever eat here?

The menu looks okay - the websites is http://www.whitlows.com/default.asp

Open to other suggestions

Note to Pranu: need the name of the restaurant you mentioned - I'm not familiar with it.

The date is set for Saturday, 8/6 10-5 pm. Still haven't decided on a location for the seminar, but VJ thinks it will be downtown. I'm flying in from ATL Sat. morning - returning around 11 am Sunday and look forward to meeting you.

Hope we can get a big crowd together for dinner after the seminar. Should I continue to check this board or will someone start another thread for this gathering (in case there are others who want to do a MR and join us for dinner)?
