Now I'm jealous - have fun :) btw, HKG is the ONLY place I've enjoyed Dim Sum and yes, it was very good (it helped that I had an interpreter available so I knew what it was being offered from each cart).

To me the best part was trying new stuff and seeing all these plates on the tables and bones on the ground. We love Dim Sum.

Hey, we should consider doing a DC Dim Sum Do ... :D

I have been asked by flygirl555 to have you post your intentions for the dinner/drinks after the VJ's seminar in the 'DC on Aug. 6 - After the MR Class' thread. A count is needed by 31-Jul-2005.

Did the seminar actually occur last night? Was it beneficial?

I've been lurking on FT for a while and finally decided to register for an account. The ironic thing is that I was sitting at home reading FT posts last night during the scheduled Mileage Run class - I wish I could have joined you!

8/13 anyone up for a drink?

Shelly
yes, it did happen all day yesterday. I think most of us came away with a few new ideas and approaches. And some came away with many. It was also a chance to see some out of towners who we've seen in other places. I caught up with two of the folks that I met on a trip in early May -- there were about a dozen of us NW types who all happened to be connecting in NRT at the same time.

It was a worthwhile day.

Sure. Always up for a drink.

Where would you guys like to meet?

I nominate Lauriol Plaza near Dupont Circle in DC. Great margaritas, great chips (GREAT CHIPS) and salsa, great food. Near 2 metro stops.

I'd be down for a drink, but I'm on a mileage run that weekend!

September thoughts, anyone? Labor Day weekend is out for me & so is Sept 30-Oct2 weekend - but I should be around for the majority of the rest of the month (with the possible exception of the week of Sep 26 since I may have to & do some college recruiting for my company & I'll get to visit good ol' JMU!)

Yeah, I'm flying next weekend too, so 8/13 is out for me. Houston over Labor Day and on a freebie Delta ticket to PWM Sep 17-19. :D

How about on a Thursday night sometime? The weekends are when I escape on an airplane!

peace,
~Ben~

After 3 FT events in VA, it is time to bring the DC FT monthly happy hour back to DC. Let's try for a midweek happy hour instead of dinner, maybe 13-15 Sep or 20-22 Sep. I nominate the Capitol City Brewing Company at 11 & H Streets NW.

dcgators Aug 9, 2005 10:32 am

I am game for either date but can CCBP handle a bunch of FTers? The last time I was there (it's been a while), they were packed to the gills for HH.

I'm not sure why you're saying HH instead of dinner, if this is just to meet for a drink the drive into DC or even Arlington/Alexandria its just not worth it, much as I like to see the DC area FT'ers.

As far as dates go for a usual drink/dinner meeting, my preference is 9/8 (seoulmanjr requested a thursday). My business travel schedule is unknown for September, so any available dates could change quickly.

Purpleeagl Aug 10, 2005 9:36 am

I am tentatively available the weeks of Sept19-23 and 26-30, but my travel plans tend to change quickly. I look forward to seeing everyone. It was nice to meet so many after the MR conference.

Hey... since I have yet to prove to GoingAway that I am not a figment of the imagination, I am going to make a concerted effort to make it to the September Happy Hour... couldn't make it to the MR Seminar thanks to rugby (as usual) but it was for a good cause, as my team struggled valiantly but lost in the finals. If anyone is interested in Georgetown/Dupont or the Downtown Area, I'm happy to make some suggestions.

I do exist. Really. No, really -- I do.

MJonTravel Aug 17, 2005 2:24 pm

I would love to finally make good on getting to a DC happy hour. Say when.
