I'm going to be in town next week, so I'll be there. This means that you'll have your "Advance Team" available to take care of the necessary preparations. :)

I'm hoping that a TV will be available so I can see my beloved College Football games. I'll have to bring a printout of the FT Pick 'Em Game screen so I can track how I'm doing from the gathering.

I appreciate the offer but I'm going to ask that no one come over before 7 pm. I'm going to have a pretty busy day up to that point and I may set up earlier in the day and be breezing back in the door about 6:45 from other things I need to do.

There shouldn't be too much set up anyhow... I'm putting out glasses and I'll have a few things to supplement on food (once I hear whether folks are bringing a savory or a sweet) but it will be low-key compared to some of the past large shindigs I'm known for. ;)

Go ahead and add me to the count... Haven't decided what to cook or bring yet, so if you've got a preference, just let me know. :)

And can you PM me your address? :) Thanks!

Yea, a local DO I can actually... well... do :)

I will bring some wine but it wont be from travels, but will be some of my favorites (I am not as well traveled as others here :() I will also bring some munchies!

I -may- be +1, not entirely sure... but count me in! Directions and details please?

Illini_Fan Oct 11, 2006 3:24 pm

Count the newbie in -- my wine knowldege is limited to what I remember from the movie Sideways, but I'll bring something. If you have a particular food dish category that is still unfilled, let me know and I'll bring that as well. Otherwise, I'll bring whatever entices me during my trip to Central Market.

I assume directions and details will be sent via PM?

thx

Methinks this is going to be a wine & Central Market party. We're planning on going there too. ;)

dmfriedman Oct 11, 2006 5:26 pm

Do rum cakes fresh from Grand Cayman count as a suitable dessert? :) I'll still dig something more wine-compatible up for an appetizer... And it looks like I'll have to make my first-ever pilgrimage to Central Market just to fit in with the crowd. ;)

Latest list:

* AggieGirl
* c230k78 (+1 maybe) - bringing appetizer & dessert
* dmfriedman - bringing dessert (and maybe appetizer?)
* empedocles (+2) - bringing appetizers
* Illini_Fan
* Sam - DFW - bringing appetizer
* studley
* techgirl (+1 at least)

PM with address info being sent shortly. Yes, a TV will be available - in fact my HDTV gets installed on Friday afternoon so I'm looking forward to my first football with it!

I will bring some focaccia from Paciugo. I will get some dessert and some appetizer pieces so that we have a good sampling.

I will also bring some dessert wines like eiswein and muscato, etc.

That cool?

PS - I am a newbie so be on the lookout for me to call saying I am lost and need help getting there! :)

I've never been to Central Market either (I've kind of only done the Whole Foods thing), so this gives me a reason to check it out to see what kind of appetizers, etc. are there. Hopefully, I'll try to not duplicate what y'all will bring. :)

I'm bringing an appetizer from CM, and while I was there, happened upon a nice bottle of wine to pair it with. :)

Illini_Fan Oct 13, 2006 12:23 pm

Well -- that is the last time I recommend Central Market. They don't carry any of my preferred flavors of MadDog 20/20 and it took me forever to find the spray cheese and Ritz crackers :td:

All seriousness aside, I'm offering Pumpkin Cheesecake and 2 bottles of wine from the AUS/NZ section of Central Market. Figured since I have a OneWorld award scheduled for that part of the world next summer, I might try some of their wine.

I think I'll probably have to skip this one; other engagements early in the evening.

Any guess how late you all will be going?

Hmmm... knowing some of these folks, I'm going to wager fairly late. Then again, we seem to be missing bpauker from this thread!

(We were hoping you could show up so we could celebrate your birthday, you know.... ;) )

swag Oct 13, 2006 2:00 pm

There's another birthday gathering over in Plano where I'll be drowning my sorrows in German beer, but if that breaks early and I'm still in shape to drive to Denton County, then I can try to stop by.
