I'm now on the job market! Looking for a Marketing/Comms Manager/Project Manager position in Seattle. Happy to work for another startup or a more established company.

I'm awesome at herding cats, managing projects, gathering requirements, implementation and strategy, working in teams and market positioning.

I'm not adverse to traveling for work either.

My LinkedIn Profile.

Traveler needs new job

Hopefully, you can help me out.

You see, I lost my job and desperately need gainful employment.

I have extensive experience in strategic communication, public relations, journalism, public affairs and government relations, social media, and public sector management. I have worked as a journalist and worn a variety of hats in the public sector and in the private sector as a communications/P.R. consultant with clients in Europe, Canada and the United States.

Of course, like you, I am also an epic traveler—personally and professionally.

I am based in the Detroit-area, but am open to relocating and have previously commuted daily and weekly to the East Coast, as well as European cities.

If you have something—be it full-time, part-time, consulting—let me know. Serious enquiries, only.

Given the description of your experience - have you considered setting up your own consulting shop and just getting clients vs a corporate job? It's something you can do while searching (there is a ton of online and printed guidance on how to do this successfully) to keep fresh and current, and you may find the corporate job might be unnecessary.

Will travel on your behalf [win-win]

I had this crazy idea, let's see how crazy it is.

Me: 34 years old male holding a Romanian passport (US & Canada visas), based in Europe during the summer months (may-sep) and various other locations during the winter (2015/2016 winter I will be in South America).

I have my own IT Consulting and Software Outsourcing company with some 40 employees. Since I can work from pretty much anywhere in the world as long as I have an internet connection, I’ve been travelling around the world for the past 5 years, averaging about 120k miles / year.

My sort-of outdated Linkedin profile, just in case you want to see my skills: https://www.linkedin.com/in/timbuku

The offer: I’m available for contract hire to take trips you don’t want to take or you don’t have the time to take. I'm willing to go almost anywhere in the world.

The deal : you cover all the costs + a daily fee for my time. If the destination is interesting for me I might cover some of the costs or reduce my fee.

What you get : I travel to the designated location, do your bidding (nothing illegal) to the best of my ability for a few hours every day and then I do my thing. I can take care of the bookings and invoice you.

What I get : chance to visit new places (I have visited 90+ countries to date) with a reduced cost on my part, collect even more miles and have some fun in the process.

The fine print : for short flights (less than 3h) I travel Economy, for longer flights I travel Premium-Economy or Business Class. I can sleep in almost any conditions as long as it’s a safe area, but I prefer boutique hotels. I eat in fine restaurants, but those are on my dime.

Interested ? Get in touch and we can discuss details.

i'm in the market for a change. currently have a stable job, but ready to branch out and do something new or explore a new company.

i have a Ph.D. in plant molecular biology and a B.S. in agricultural sciences. currently i lead a small discovery science group that is a part of a large, multinational seed & biotechnology company. my areas of expertise are in quantitative genetics, genomics, molecular biology, and plant breeding -- in addition i have a consistent 5+ year track record of leading and managing projects, and leading complex interdisciplinary teams to deliver products through our R&D pipeline.

i'm open to new opportunities in companies large or small, in government, or in a consulting role where my project management and team leadership skills can be put to their best use.

feel free to contact me by PM and i'll be happy to share a LinkedIn profile and updated CV.

I did a few searches but didn't find any previous mentions of www.flexjobs.com in this thread or anywhere in Omni, for that matter. I'm curious to know if any job-seeking Flyertalkers have had any good experience with it.

In the past I've been reluctant to pay the monthly membership fee for full access to job postings, but I am keeping an eye out for something to supplement what I do now, and a family member is looking for a job too, so for both our sakes, I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to sign up for a few months or just a waste of money.

Flexjobs is an amazing site and I'm a long time subscriber. It's primarily for full time professionals looking for telecommute, short term/contract and flex-time opportunities - it's not like guru.com or direct-hire sites.

There are a lot of jobs listed there, however they are weighted towards sales, project management and the admin side of health care, but there are quite a few non-profit positions as well.

There are coupon codes floating around online that will give you a cheap free look to check out the job listings.

Medical sales!

Hi folks,
I currently reside in Charlotte, which we all know is a great hub, future plans include a possible relocation to Florida, but totally no timetable on that.
I have a stellar background in medical device sales and training, and have a degree in Audiology as well.
Am looking for a full time sales job, and open to travel.
I am going to include my updated linked in profile.
Thank you!!

I am looking to for a new challenge as well. Moving out of Boston is a priority and would prefer to start something new in Chicago or California.
I am a senior scientist with a Ph.D in Applied Physics and B.S. in Chemistry. I have worked 10+ years on the materials' development side of radiation detection solutions. Currently, I manage a small research team that is part of a well-known small business in the field.

Bump. I still need something. Unemployment and COBRA running out. I don't want to enroll in Obamacare and get food stamps.

I don't know anything about starting a business. I'm a P.R. flack, not a businessman.

There are tons of resources online - you don't need to be a businessman, just demonstrate examples of previous projects and how/where you created value for an employer/customer.

With the experience you listed in your post, I can't imagine you'll have too much difficulty getting clients.

I would do the following right away:

1. define your business plan - what services can you offer to which industries, and who do you want to target
2. create your brand - domain registration, email, simple website (lots of free website hosts available to get started)
3. create your online profiles - guru.com, elance, etc and fill in the website with lots of content on where you added value, gain results for a client and some name dropping to build reputation
4. create the marketing plan - who/how will you target, how to approach prospects, etc. I've seen a lot of resources that show easy ways to get some small client jobs to get started - ie approaching a restaurant owner and showing them how you can improve their marketing, social media, menu, etc etc - find problems with businesses in your local area and approach them with real solutions at a price that's hard to pass up. That builds the portfolio and gives you a base to build up with larger projects and customers.

I think every small shop PR/marketing consultant got started in a similar way and shared the same fears you might have now - many successful businesses were started out of fear, urgency and necessity. Just spend a few hours researching online and reading some books at Barnes/Noble, etc.
