I won't be able to join everyone for the pepper crab do (husband and I are flying in on Saturday night), but we're still hoping to go to the Sunday hawker centre get-together.
I'll be seeing cawhite60156 a week before that, though, and will be passing along a special surprise for everyone. You'll just have to wait two more weeks to find out what.

Ok guys and gals... 2 weeks to go before our big bash!
I managed to convince the powers that be to pass me some door gifts for you folks, so that's settled.
Now as for the ladies requests for massage places, I went around Chinatown and found that they have a whole row of massage shops that just opened near the new Hotel 81 on Upper Cross Street. Hence, we could either take it free and easy and just stroll down the road and see which one catches our eye or I could call and see if I can negotiate a special deal with one of them since quite a number of you want to go for massages... PM me so I can get a rough feel...
I've got a last minute business trip but thank god I managed to push it so that I depart on 16 evening! Phew... The thought of not being able to make it was too hard to bear!!!
So for those leaving on 16 evening, we can meet up at the airport for drinks and shopping if guy need to buy anything from duty free... (I get a discount there...)
Alright, see you guys soon and as usual if you guys have any requests and want me to do any legwork before you arrive, let me know.
Cheers,
Gaz

Carol... Thanks for the promotion!!
Anyway, I found an even better place by accident. There is this nice chain spa near the airport in the suburb of Tampines called B.E. and they offer a 5 hour spa program for just S$230! My colleague who tried it has been raving about the milk baths and scrubs etc... (Sounded to me like she was being cooked alive in a broth but then... duh.) Also, after all the walking in Little India, you might really need one!! I'll go and scout around and see if there are any massage places nearer to Little India thus doing away with the need to travel all the way down to Chinatown.
Izzik, I'm leaving for a biz trip on SQ408 departing 16 Jan 05 at 1620hrs, so I'll probably be at the airport at about 1500hrs. Might be a little too early to meet up with you unless you want to spend many hours in the airport!
Also, I'm currently waitlisted for business class on the flight from HKG to SIN on UA on the 14 which if I read correctly is the upper deck party plane... I recently made it to 1K, so I hope that helps my chances on getting on board. I decided yesterday that I'll take a day off, burn some mileage and grab the morning UA flight to HKG on 14, have lunch then come back on the party plane. Will keep you guys updated... I'm confirmed in coach for now, so fingers crossed.
See you guys real soon!

Hi Guys, I am back from my X-mas trip and ready to join the discussion again. It also took a while for my trip to be confirmed ( I land at 08.00 on Saturday from Mumbai). Mrs. Miles will also be joining (but maybe not for the lunch on Sat.).
On Saturday at 12.00 we meet for a lunch in Little India. This will be a traditional Southern Indian meal (might be slightly different from what you are used to). It is 100% vegetarian and served on a banana leaf. Fork and spoon will be available for those who want eating equipment. For those who chose to eat the traditional way; only use your right hand please!
As a rendez-vous point I would like to suggest the Hindu temple on Serangoon Road. This is easy because all taxi drivers know this location. It will be a five minute walk form there.
The traditional Indian meal in Little India, Singapore was chosen by the discovery channel as one of the best 10 meals worldwide below USD5. That is saying something because it costs much less then that!
On Sunday at 02.00 we meet for a historical walk. It is Jan. so it might get hot (bring a hat), but it might also rain (folding brully). The rendez-vous point is already set at the Long bar. This is at the Raffles, but not in the hotel, but on the other end of the block, upstairs in the shopping arcade.
Maybe people could let me know how long the walk should be....... we are talking about a walk in a tropical climate.

Question .....
How far is the restaurant from the hotels? Assuming the 7pm for dinner on the website is the time of the reservation, what time are the cabs likely to be leaving?
Anyone else at Sheraton want to catch a cab from there instead of going to the Conrad first?
