As for the beer, why not pop over to NZ for a weekend? I notice SQ has a special on now and it is mileage earning at full economy rate.

Hmmm, I might be able to arrange a little tour and co-ordinate it with a friend from SQ if I get some numbers. It really all depends on how sticky the police are over here and sticky they have been since 9-11. But, try I will...

As for popping over to NZ, sure. Which part of NZ are you in? I just might consider popping over for a weekend when my project goes into the lull stage.

Count me in for any airport tour behind the scenes or on the tarmac.

Kiwi Flyer Jun 4, 2004 8:01 am

Is there anything planned for the Friday night? Looking like that will be my arrival.

I'm a definite maybe. Until fares come down or I can set it up as a work trip :) --yeah, I'm thinking we definitely need to expand out Singapore data center then... :) :)

gfowler-ord-1k, I hope to be able to personally thank you for your efforts on behalf of the UA FT Community, in SIN next January. Another reason for me to plan on attending SIN Run 2005. :)

zvezda Jun 6, 2004 6:09 am

It looks like I'll be in SIN 11-12 July 2004 (Sunday evening). Would anyone like to try out the Pepper Crabs early?

inlanikai Jun 6, 2004 2:05 pm

No Signboard in Geylang. The best chili crab in town. We can take over the whole parking lot! :D

I'm thinking that could have been a scene from the movie "9 1/2 Weeks"

It would have caught my attention. ^

SAN-SIN/PVG-SAN

SIN-SAN/SAN-PVG

Actually, I think that may be legal.

Certainly, if you were to use different passports with different names and different FF numbers and fly on different airlines, then it would be legal. ;)

Jenn,

Thanks for the kind words. Making the page keeps me sort of patient as I look forward to all the goodies in January.

Got you added to the lunch page now. See you there. :-)

Another FlyerTalker from my neck of the woods. Leave it to a FT event for (fairly) local FlyerTalkers to meet. :D

mauld Jun 11, 2004 6:10 am

Mike, add me to the Crab Do Sat night :D

AusTXHiker Jun 11, 2004 6:23 am

mauld, YGM! :)

mjm Jun 13, 2004 2:12 am

Michele,

Whoops. Mea Culpa. <humble shrug> This aging thing is for the birds. :)

All fixed now. You would think I could get these things right by now ;)

See you soon,

Mike

If we can find reasonable tickets, we just might do this.

This could help us deal with the new UA SWU's expiring at the end of January instead of March.

Otherwise you could just give them to me :D

GK Jun 14, 2004 10:11 pm

We'll be there (this time I promise)

I am off to SIN tonight actually, anyhow, having been no shows last year, we will be there in 2005 ! Now that my job has changed, the end of financial year deadlines will no longer keep me desk bound in HKG. :)

Well I would say that is rather fantastic news!

So, January in SIN, February in PVG, New York Bar (PHT) in March maybe? :)

I shall get myself busy with updating the website very shorytly.

Welcome aboard gentlemen.

well, upgrades & cheap fares willing i'm there. i'm saving 2 swu's for this assuming it will work out.

while i hate the end of jan as expiration date i realize it's cuz unlike when it was paper & it took 2 months to get to us, this time they're actually pretty good about depositing them electronically so same amount of time in terms of use.

i do need hilton or marriott to drop their rates though - right now both showing high.

...count me in as a definite definite (double wording intended). Never having attended an FT gathering, I'm looking forward to it. If fares come down, great. If not, I'll still be there.

restlessinRNO Jun 26, 2004 2:35 pm

I've been checking flights on UA RNO-SFO-SIN perhaps weekly recently. Today I notice the price has fallen from ~$1100 to $885.70 (Fare=V). This is for Jan. 13-17, which is not a 6 day stay. SFO-SIN & LAX-SIN are $721.70. I wonder if this is as good as it gets, or whether a further price decrease might be expected by waiting until the fall?

SanDiego1K Jun 26, 2004 3:17 pm

Well spotted. I'm glad you posted, as I haven't even been doing fare checks.

It's $885 out of SAN and CLD as well. I'd buy in the $700 range and get in the queue for upgrades. But a fare close to $900 bites. I'm going to keep waiting to see if the UA employees get Friends and Family certs in the fall. 15% off would certainly made any fare appealing.

Just for kicks, I checked an outbound to SIN in January, and a return from Shanghai in February. The fare popped to $1400 - so much for my hope that I could achieve a lower fare by nesting SAN-SIN/PVG-SAN and SIN-SAN/SAN-PVG.

kluau88 Jun 26, 2004 3:34 pm

Well this year I'll really need to push to requalify and get those SWU's for those monsters I've created :) SIN in January is a wonderful way to start.

Put me down as a maybe + 1.

Hopefully my cousin will get a fast start towards 1K status :D

Sweet Willie Jun 26, 2004 8:51 pm

Wow!! it's a V fare on united.com..AMAZING!

Because I'm maxing a couple hundred extra miles by going through HKG I paid $856.

cawhite Jun 27, 2004 8:56 am

$821.70 for the v-fare, given that the Q fares have been pricing out at $1345 for the past month. Good enough for me since the upgrades are confirmed for all segments (with Sweet Willie hopefully soon to make it 3 Cgo FTers on the upper deck  Which also means someone to take pictures of me climbing over the top of seat 15A enroute from HKG-SIN ;) )
