Massage and reflexology

Personally I could spend the entire weekend eating crab, hanging out in the Conrad lounge and getting massages and reflexology. Maybe we can call this one the massage run :D

You have my attention

I have to admit the discussion of massage more than pepper crabs has caught my attention -- still thinking about this one.

This is one chicky who will be doing the spa thing in 2005. I was SOOO jealous when I heard about the fab cheap spa treatments you girls had in SIN.

We went to Xiyuan Beauty & Aromatherapy, 208A Telok Ayer Street. There were a number of massage places in the neighborhood and I want to try a different place with better spa etiquette. You can spot them by the sign out front of two feet with all the reflexology points in gaudy colors.

Ok spa-sister, expect a full report from me sometime in the last week of May! For the meantime, lemme get my weekly Reiki treatment -- have you tried it? You should! I hope they have Reiki in Sing... but I would settle for Thai or Swedish, or maybe they have a specialty of their own in Singapore.

Spa and crabs? Wow, what more can a lady ask for?!?!

SIN Run 05 a.k.a. The Pepper Crab Do is a Go, Go, Go!

And back due to popular demand........:)

One and all definite, possible, or just simply dreaming about it FlyerTalkers, the SIN RUN 2005 or as we have decided to dub it this year the Pepper Crab Do 2005 is now in full plan mode.

The webpage is up and will be kept current. You can find it at:

http://home.inter.net/mjm/sinrun05.html

SIN RUN 2004 had FTers from all over the globe arriving in Singapore with a single purpose, a major crab feast.

This year the main event is dinner on Saturday, January 15, 2004, and we are adding a second day munch in the form of a Sunday Afternoon Food Court Lunch Run hosted by our own transpac. All in all I would recommend eating light for the few days building up to this party on the equator. :)

Last year many of us met up at the Conrad for pre-dinner drinks and then shared a van (same fare per person as a taxi) to and back from the restaurant. Same again this year I am sure. Some go directly from other hotels, shopping, or sightseeing expeditions and meet at the restaurant directly. A new restaurant this year for returning Crab fans so be sure to check the webpage for a map and details of the Geylang location.

Post here if you will join, or if you just have questions or comments.

Kick off the year with a big mileage boost and join us in SIN!

See you there,

Mike

I've booked my SQ in Raffles from NYC-SIN, so put me down as a YES!! :D (baring any emergency room visits caused by Hubby :p ) !! I'll send you an e mail with details.

AusTXHiker May 7, 2004 8:21 am

Please list me as a "Maybe." I am considering a RTW run on SQ or SQ/CO.

izzik May 7, 2004 8:59 am

Wow, are you flying on SQ's new EWR-SIN nonstop?

It's very tempting .. I might just do that if fares don't come down at all.

Yes, on the return. Outbound I'm doing JFK-FRA-SIN in Raffles, with the non stop on my return. The JFK flight leaves at 9pm, with the non stop out of EWR leaving at 11:15pm-- call me insane, but I didn't want to wait around till almost midnight for my flight out. This way I can leave work at 6 ish, and get out to JFK, as I really didn't want to work all day, come home (get comfy) then pack up and leave for the ariport!! The diff in fare was about $300 (non stop r/t was $5800). I had a credit of $4000 which was applied to the fare, so it wasn't all that bad.

gfowler-ord-1k May 7, 2004 11:17 am

Count me in

Right now the best UA fares ex PHX are around $1100 for a Q. I am assuming there will cheaper fares as the time draws closer.

I will be doing a 2 or 3 week trip and go to some other parts of southeast Asia.

Factor in more time at the new Virgin Atlantic Lounge in JFK. Have not been to the JFK one, but from what I've seen from other Virgin Lounges, they are really cool.

Sounds good to me  I've seen some pics of the new lounge in JFK and can't wait to try it out.

Count me in!!!!! :D

Heya all!!

I have also recently been relocated to SIN for a 2 year project with the airport authority. So count me in for this one and I'll be happy to volunteer to help out in any organisation work required.

Also, since I'm working in the airport, let me know what info you guys need or if you need a welcome party to meet you at the gate. :)

Ski - I'll be happy to join you for a non-seafood meal...
FTers in SIN - Let's meet for drinks sometime soon... Suffering from withdrawal symptoms after leaving all those microbreweries back in YUL. :D

sailaway75 May 7, 2004 5:35 pm

Forgot to add...

Great website MJM!!!!!!!!! ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

restlessinRNO May 7, 2004 8:27 pm

mjm - I love your website! I was sorry I couldn't attend SIN RUN 2004. I assume Jan. 15-16 is the MLK holiday weekend in the USA. Please put me on the definite maybe list. I'll be following this thread closely. I'm of course hoping UA offers something better than the current $1095.82 for RNO-SFO-SIN Jan.13-17 - but I have 8 months to keep checking! :)

Kiwi Flyer May 9, 2004 2:37 pm

Suggestion

Perhaps mjm would be kind enough to start a new thread? That way the website link and other details can be at the top instead of buried and hard to find (well for people like me who struggle with search function!).

transpac May 9, 2004 2:43 pm

No need, I added the link to mjm's webpage to my original post. ok?

restlessinRNO May 9, 2004 3:02 pm

Great Idea!

Thank you transpac. That's a great idea, to have a link to mjm's webpage on page 1. I note your first link is to the "SIN RUN 2004 DO". Might it also be useful to clarify that in your post to avoid confusion?

transpac May 11, 2004 5:04 pm

Sunday Food Court Run

For Sunday's Food Court Run I am leaning towards going to just one Food Court, to make things easier for everybody. The Food Court at Chinatown Complex is quite impressive;

Chinatown Complex Map

maybe a hundred stalls offering everything. This is easily accessible on the new purple NE MRT line, stop NE4. This complex is bordered by New Bridge Road, Smith Street, and two or three other streets ;). What do you think?

Failing that we could walk near Beach, Middle & Rochor Road and visit two or three separate spots (quite close to the Conrad)?

PETEFLYS May 11, 2004 5:22 pm

Please add my name to the list.

SanDiego1K May 11, 2004 5:27 pm

Can I do this with my air?

If the dreaded 6 day minimum is still in place for cheaper tickets on UA in January, is it "legal" to do this for those of us also going to Shanghai in February?

SAN-SIN/PVG-SAN

SIN-SAN/SAN-PVG

jan_az May 11, 2004 6:02 pm

Isnt that nested?

Hi sailaway

I suppose its too much to hope you can arrange a visit to parts of airport normally off limits?

As for the beer, why not pop over to NZ for a weekend? I notice SQ has a special on now and it is mileage earning at full economy rate.

Too bad this offer does not extend till next year. It's on SQ USA website.

You may fly from Newark to the following destinations on this offer: Singapore, Bangkok, Bali (Denpesar), Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, or Penang. The offer is valid for either one-way or round-trip travel. Outbound travel is valid between our June 28th launch date and August 20, 2004 with a 30-day maximum stay. Other important terms and conditions apply.

To book or learn more, please call Singapore Airlines reservations at 1-800-742-3333 or your travel agent. This offer will not be bookable through Singaporeair.com.

Count me as a maybe. I'm considering spending the winter doing a series of CMB-SFO-CMB runs on SQ in C for the PPS segments.

newself May 16, 2004 10:33 pm

Mike,

Since I have never been to the far east, I am going to try to make the run with you all. January is usually my busiest time at work but if the refineries don't plan any major turnaround work, then I should be able to get over there for a week. Hope to see you there!

Dave
