I'd love to come the 25th and not just because my office is across the street. but i'm flying to chicago for the weekend on a 9:45 flight from dulles, which means that if people are really getting together at 8 p.m., can't make it.

Agreed ^ - if we can referesh the thread quarterly or so, it'd be great. The thread is awfully long at the moment.

I'm in for Friday. Is there a reason why it has to be so late? Not that 8:00 is late but since many of us work downtown 8:00 means hanging out at work for an extra hour or two on a Friday. Perhaps the late hour is the reason for the limited turn out. Would anyone else be able to make it if we were to start earlier, say 7:00? Just b/c it starts at 7:00 some people can still arrive at 8:00. Thoughts??

You might want to coordinate an earlier start time with MrAOK and post it ... the start time was set by Tazi who has to work so she can't make it any earlier and I'm picking up SeeYa at IAD and she doesn't get in until after 7 pm (updated to say I just looked at her itin and make that after 8:30pm) and then we need to drive downtown, so we're already not expected until after 9 pm.

Danger, avoid Dulles access route!
 

I don't think you want to be in front of GoingAway on her rocket trip from IAD to DC that evening. :eek: :eek: :D

Tomorrow night we all are going to be doing an FT Jail Do to visit our fellow DC area FTer who has attended a couple of the happy hours in the past. He attended the one we held in December across from Union Station and then the one in January that was held near Dulles when Ozstamps was in town. Yep, last night when I was reading this article on washingtonpost.com, I thought that this guy's identity sounded very familiar (working for AOL as a software dev & living in Harpers Ferry). Upon further research, I determined it was indeed one of the FT people who has attended our happy hours in the past.

I might be interested in coming tomorrow, if y'all will have me. (Subject to vistors arriving). What's the scoop? Just show up at M&S at 8 and look for rowdy people?

Folks, this story is discussed in several ft forums now.

Our TOS do not allow any discussion about an individual ft member - and I would say this is especially true for community.

SeeYa's flight is late due to the weather between here and NY (earlier the website said the flight had been en route for 45 minutes when I got a call from SeeYa and she was still on the ground in NY :rolleyes: ) Weather has apparently also messed up Tazi's schedule tonight.

Sorry for anyone we missed at M&S this evening.

From the first page options listed for July ... my preference would be the 22nd at the Steakhouse (assuming they do offer more than just steak) but I should be able to make the 8th if that one is preferred by everyone else.

Let's pick a date and place and see who is available to attend ....

Sorry all, I've been out of the loop for a little while as I've been out of town. I'm not sure what's preferred by everyone - I personally would prefer the 22nd - but I'm not certain what's up with the iDine Bar Crawl (whether it's still happening or not) - I'll e-mail thezipper as he was going to try to organize it for Alexandria.

The steakhouse has chicken & fish of the week dishes as well.

I can vouch for bhatnasx being out of town as I saw him yesterday at the airport in Iceland. :)

My vote is for 22-July....

Shoot - I'm in Korea on the 22nd..

I'm determined to meet all of the DC FTers sooner or later! :-\

MrAOK PM'ed me and suggested that this thread is getting a little big & it's probably time to start a new one - I agree. However, I'm looking to pass on the torch that was passed on to me from Viajero Joven before he moved to PHX. So, if anyone's interested in taking over the duties of updating the happy hour thread, please let us know.

I think that's the plan if it's cool with everyone else - I've been gone for the past 3 days, so I'll see if thezipper set something up - we had discussed doing the iDine bar crawl thing a few happy hours ago. I think that its not really a traditional bar crawl - not sure the exact agenda, but I think we were going to try dinner at Stella's in Old Town & hit up 2 other bars there afterwards.

May I suggest we start using the Calendars feature to post DC meetings? @:-) We could link to detail of each meeting, eliminating the multipage, multimeeting threads we seem to create. ^
