I do earn a lot of FF miles...also use Credit Cards that add on mileage....but also look for cheap or discounted flights whenever available. I do not like to use expensive hotels, prefer B n B or Homestays..for the reason of my travels is to experience the locals and their cultures. ..Cheers....Katie

Hi,

I've been reading the forums on FT for awhile and thought I would register and start contributing. Just stopping in here to say, "Hello."

nice to be here

Hello - I'm Jim from Oakland, Ca. Been flying mostly UA for many years (approx. 800k lifetime miles). Was 1P for four years then last year made it to 1k. I fly for business once or twice a month to DC, and sometimes to NYC and BOS for vacation and family visits. Last year my wife and I flew to Istanbul and we're planning trip to Paris in October. Trying to figure out the right way to use system-wide upgrades....

Hi All

I am new to FT, live in Houston. Today is my first day actually on here.

I read an article in Conde Naste Traveler about some of you! My husband and I are FF and do everything in our power to maximize our miles/rewards. I would like to be as frequent as some of you! I want you to tell me all of your secrets and I will tell you all of our lies. I have only read thru a few threads because I have work to do today but CAT - you have cracked me up at least 3 times today.

I am a dog person but we travel too much to keep one. We have a plastic dog named TineTine. He watches the house while we are gone.

Howdy everyone

My name is Max Schmidt. I'm a marketing maven and into all things tech and zen.

I'm 22 and a freelance marketer. I mostly do online stuff and I'm here because the frequent flyer community is one that I'd like to get to know a bit more about.

I know a lot of people are turned off by adv/mkting people because they think they only want to sell something and I hope I don't give off that impression.

I'm here to check out this community and hopefully meet some cool people!

After spending last year "up in the air" and in hotels for approximately 60 nights in a span of 8 months, I decided to look for a frequent traveler forum and found this one. I find it fantastic and glad I am able to learn from the pros (and hopefully share some info as well!)

Hello

Hi folks - after years of business travel finally decided to register for this forum. Travel is getting too difficult to not dip into (and hopefully contribute to) the tribal knowledge on a regular basis.

I run a consulting practice for a large software company. Most of my travel is domestic, although lately I've been doing a bunch more international.

Safe travel to all of you.

I've been lurking for awhile, but I decided to join the forum so that I can contribute to group with anything I come across that might be helpful for others.

I only travel once or twice a year, but I'm always trying to make the trips easier and better. (Less luggage, more easily accommodate my need for frequent food...etc...)

My husband and father-in-law are believers in packing heavy, whereas I'd rather pack light have less hassle. (Seriously, if you go somewhere for a week, how many clean shirts do you need? Who needs a garment bag for golf shirts?)

At home my husband and I have seven cats, a hedgehog, and two sugar gliders, along with a plethora of guppies. This makes travelling more often a little difficult since someone needs to care for all the critters when we're gone. I'm also self-employed, which makes travel a little more difficult to plan, since if I'm not at work, the door's locked and no customers are coming in!

HI....I've also been lurking for a while, but really enjoy reading the posts and want to get more active. My name is Trevor and I live in Malibu, CA. 37 years old w/pregnant wife for first child and 2 dogs. I love travelling and getting good deals, but am terrified of flying.....(it's been a lifelong thing that I've just accepted I have to live with). I am an entrepreneur and currently work as a business consultant for some folks in the health and fitness space. In my spare time I surf and bike and am a closeted musician. My favorite airline right now domestically is Virgin America. Thanks for having such a wonderful website.....

After months reading about accumulating points/miles for travel, I have begun my pursuit of miles for leisure travel. I reside in south Alabama, am happily married and have two great kids of grammar school age. Having lurked for some time, I started to see that some of the offers I was pursuing might be helpful to others, so I decided to join up. The Conde Nast article was pretty good motivation as well.

I just found this site and was wondering how do I become a established community member? I'm a service guy who visits my wife on the weekends. I'm never home. I made DM w/ delta last year and they carried over 92k, so I'm real close to DM for '11. Once that happens I will be earning status for '12. Very hard to believe. Thanks Dwayne.

Name: Mr. D
DOB: Dec 26, 1977
Base: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

My favourite airlines :
(1) Emirates
(2) Singapore Airlines

Company rules dictates that I fly on Malaysia Airlines which is also fine except their lack of in-flight amenities.

Welcome to Flyertalk! that is an impressive amount of flying so you'll fit right in here.

As to your question on becoming an established community member. I reccommend reading and learning as much as possible. Use the search function whenever you can to avoid reasking previously answered questions. Also, check out the Community Buzz forum more and go to a few events (known as a "Do"). And just stick around, you'll be entrenched beflore you know it.

profiles of two retirees...

My name is Rebecca Byer from Kingston, N.Y. now resettled in Phoenix, AZ flying all too often to Florida. My husband Benami still works sometimes travelling to New York upstate.

The real reason we joined this site is to inform all of some very bad practices by a company we all used to love, I believe it was called Rewards Network.

I must go now, but we wanted to share our horriexperience with all members of that corrupt company.

We will be back
