Call me Ishmael. Some years ago - never mind how long precisely - having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would fly about a little with cheapo airlines. Looking for good deals I chanced upon several such inclined forums on the internet.
I dropped by here the first time at the end of 2008. 'Tis only today that I managed to complete the registration procedure.

My nick hails from a tiny little airline that set out from western (European) shores to conquer the world, but faltered after just a few months of trying. They had nice leather seats, though, and always friendly staff.
The exact spelling had already been grabbed by someone else; así I added two ee's.

I prefer flight or hotel deals at a reasonable price over endless additional charges for luggage, c.c. usage, etc.

I lurked for years before actually registering, then I went back to lurking. I spend a lot of time here, though, and I've gotten so much from the collected wisdom here over the years, that lurking doesn't seem to be an option anymore.
Anyhoodle, here's my story...
My name is CC, and I was born in California. I live in Perth, Australia, having moved here to be with my husband (then fiancee). I was a baker/pastry chef in my old life, and traveled occasionally. Now I'm retired, and I travel much more. Although not nearly as much as most of the frequent flyers on here! Living where I do, pretty much any travel I do is long haul(!) - I get back to the US to visit 2 to 3 times a year. I mainly fly *A, SQ being my preference, but I'll venture out of my comfort zone for a good fare.

That would be a fair statement. I flew over 200,000 miles last year.

Hello everyone,

I am a 32 year old mother of 2 beautiful boys(I'm a wife too:). I currently work for the DOD and am amazed at how few government discounts are out there. I used to travel all the time when I was young and in my party phase, but the last 7 years I have been laying low, obtaining degrees, and taking care of home. My hubby and I are going to start taking advantage of our kids having lots of family around to care for them while we take some much needed "mommy and daddy" time.

I have come across flyer talk many times while searching for discount codes for rental cars in the past and today I wanted to be apart of the community since I(we) soon will become some frequent travelers. I love networking, meeting new people, and offering my assistance on any topic that I can.

I look foward to being a part of this community and it will be nice meeting all of you.

Had a funny journey to get to being a frequent flyer. When I was a kid my dad worked in the LA division of a Chicago based company, so I was always flying out to visit him - 10 or so ORD-LAX a year, so was pretty used to flying. Became really afraid of flying when I turned 11 or so - just seemed unnatural - and then realized the only way I could conquer my fear of the 'unknown' of flying was to learn everything about it. So I read up on airsafe.com, and learned everything I could about flying. I remember sitting at a gate looking up the safety record of an MD-80 to reassure me. AS 261 popped up, that didn't reassure me...

So anyways, I gradually became comfortable with flying again. One day I decided to try out a cash upgrade opportunity, and realized how much easier it was up front. :D Never wanted to fly coach again... but certainly couldn't afford first all the time, so then I set off on my journey to master all the frequent flyer programs I could.

Now I find myself on the road quite a bit as I try and build up my personal finance brand, and love every minute of it. I'm the kind of person who doesn't feel alive if they aren't traveling, so I try and stay on the road as much as I can.

Hi all ~ New to this community, but familiar with the format, other sites use this so my learning curve is narrowed down to common topics and threads of interests. I too am a frequent flyer ~ I live in the Seattle area and have enjoyed the opportunities to touch down across the lands and experience different cultures. In 2007 I traveled approx 100k business miles (nationally, not globally) I don't know what category that places me compared to all of you, but it seems nuts to me. Perks are nice, but the 400meter airport dash from terminal to departing gate is what kills me!

Personal travel I enjoy deeply. Last year was my first visit to Paris, Rome, Cairo and Greece. An amazing, charging experience. I've traveled to Africa and Asia before and am now curious where to go next - I'm thinking Germany?

Hi - just found this forum a couple of days ago and I love it already.

I fly a bit through work, mostly Europe to/from US and India and then some within Europe.

Over Christmas i took TG from ARN to BKK in M-class, it was the old 747 with no personal TV. Thai shows in-flight movies on the the large overhead-screens right in front of seat D-G on rows 35, 45 and 56. These are the seats with the baby-bassinets, so they were filled with families with children. It was quite amusing when Thai were screening some rather violent movies with loads of blood and limbs being cut off. Some of the children were crying the whole flight.

My wife and I live in Iowa and Florida. We have a consulting business and spend 2-3 weeks a month on the road for work..We fly UA for work and try to fly Delta to Fl since our home airport their is served only By Delta. Will fly UA to Orlando to save money or use miles..Our Jack Russell makes every trip to Florida and sometimes her ticket is more expensive then ours
