Just to introduce myself - I am a (over 60) grandmother living in the UK but with a daughter and grandson in Australia and will soon be making my 5th trip to Melbourne in 18 months. My husband and I also regularly spend a few days in Dubai and have also been to HK and the Maldives. We have also travelled extensively in the US over the last 35 years and have experienced most of the American international airlines as well as the British ones. Personal favourite is Emirates every time - and not just because they fly from our local airport (LGW)!

seek SFO-HKG travelers

I travel SFO-HKG often. Are there like minded travelers able to share their frequent 14 to 16 hours flight experiences? Are we getting sick on those tired old 747 jalopies? Is there community out there we can share what to do, what not to do? Thank you.

New Year, New Update

Even though I posted a bio of myself last May, a lot has changed since so here's an update:

I recently have moved from Phoenix, AZ where I have lived since 2003 to Las Vegas, NV. I've never completed a move fro a job before and it is a bit overwhelming. I'm in a management training program with Consolidated Electrical Distributors (CED) and will be moving into the Outside Sales portion of my training, hence the move to Las Vegas. I'm also getting my first ever company car!

I'm not sure how I will enjoy living in Las Vegas, the Flyertalk community has been really helpful so far which I am thankful for. I'm going to miss going to major league baseball games as I attended between 10 and 12 Diamondbacks games a year. But, time will tell, I'm very grateful for the opportunity and to still have a job.

4 Year Lurker revealed!

ello all!

I am a longtime lurker and first time poster.

I'm based out of Chicago and have been a road warrior for the past 4 years averaging about 74 to 80 flights a year. My job has me going everywhere from Puerto Rico to California and I enjoy it greatly.

I've learned a lot from these forums and I hope to be able to contribute a little something to this great community.

**Just like a number of people on this site, I always travel with a FTer bag tag on my carry on. PLEASE be sure to SAY HELLO when you see one in ORD! It may be me! I get soooo board sometimes in the RCC.

My name is Patrick and I live in Luxembourg/Europe.

My first flight was in 2005 in the Zeppelin NT over the Lake Constance. First flight in a plane was in June 2007 (Ryanair to Dublin).

Introducing me!

Hello Fellow Travelers,

I fly mostly for business all over north and south America. Currently I've been "commuting" between Orlando FL and Anchorage AK.

When not getting a DVT flying in coach, I enjoy music, playing and listening, Golf and just about anything outside.

I'm Robert and normally live in Orlando FL, although I'll be moving to Panama City FL in the next two weeks.

Look forward to reading more on this site.

Thanks!
...Frito...

Hello Everyone

My name is Charlie..the viasistina screen name stems from my favorite street in Rome. I am happy to be here and I certainly wish I had found the site much sooner..as I move relentlessly towards retirement from the Federal IT arena. I've racked up over 1.5 million miles mostly on United, Continental and U.S. Air and TWA (remember them?). Like most of you, I've got some stories which I will share over the course of time..thanks

Hello to all!

Im a newbie here, having just discovered this forum!

Im a massive fan of all things travel. I get a thrill and a buzz out of all aspects of travel- returning to my favourite hotels, organizing itinerary, new airports, hoping the rental car I requested is there, getting lost in IFEs, sorting out currencies and so on.

The last few years I have stayed pretty much close to home. In my professional life I havent had much call to travel apart from the occasional conference. Of course Ive ensured a well needed holiday has been thrown in here and there. It has been close to a year since my last long hall journey- a work trip from CHC, NZ to AUS, TX. Ever since then my feet have been itching.

This coming year my work will be winding down leaving me with much ME time. I plan to use this time to get back out there and get reaquainted with places I love, and visit parts of the world Ive never been to before. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you which I hope you'll enjoy.

Primarily Im a member of Air New Zealands Airports having reverted back to Jade membership. Looking forward to getting this back up to Gold at least by years end.

I searched, and apparently I never replied to this thread, so here goes:

I am a theatrical lighting designer that travels for work about 2/3 of the year. (meaning I am away from home that much) I don't seem to travel enough to ever get elite status on any one airline even though I try my hardest to fly AA all the time because I can get direct flights to most of my gigs from my home base on AA. Also, AA is a big supporter of the arts, so many of my flights are free thus denying me any status EQMs or EQS's. Bummer for me. That's why I play most of my financial games with Marriott. I seem to get much better returns annually by giving them my CC business and I just let my FF tallies slowly make their way up to valuable status. Actually, I tend to give away most of my miles before I can do anything with them because it really takes THAT long for me me to get enough miles for a reward, and then, well, you know how hard it is to book one of those. Without Elite status, they aren't even good for upgrades in most cases. My partner lives and works at home and we take one or two weeks a year and go on some pretty cool vacations. We like to SCUBA dive, so the Caribbean is a popular destination. Grand Cayman and St. Marteen are our favorites so far. Always looking for more exotic vacations, so please let me know if you have any great ideas. Bonnaire, Aruba, and Belize are already on the list :-)

I'm a big Marriott freak and I like to hold them to the standards that they built the company on. I'll be the first to call them out on any forgotten standards and send emails to those that matter. I guess that's all I've got for now... You can surely read some of my older posts to get a better idea of who I am, and possibly how I can be a jerk as well. Sorry bout that. SOme things just strike me the wrong way!

Premed student. Flying all around the country these days on interviews.

Forgot to mention, damn this place is great. The accumulated knowledge is jaw dropping.

My husband and I live in Juneau Alaska. He's about to retire from working in the Federal Government. He's earned enough miles for Alaska Airlines MVP Gold the last couple years, and, thanks the Freddie promotion on AK Air last year I somehow earned MVP.

He's been Diamond on Hilton HHonors.

With him retiring soon, we may be saying good-bye to Diamond and MVP.

Ok, I decided I'd post the first one here-)
My name's Alex, and I currently live in SF Bay Area, moved here from Moscow, Russia this summer.
It took me quite a while to decide on the move, as I first started to spend hald of my time in the US back in 2001. So, starting from 2001 I was a gold/silver(depending of how was the year) Aeroflot Bonus card holder, until the moment this autumn when the Aeroflot's timing became even more horrible than their regular horrible, and in addition to that they changed their mileage program, so I barely got a Silver this year. Luckily, I was looking for it to happen and caught the moment when Lufthansa was offering their card of a similar level to mine for one flight, so I did a one-day trip DME-MUC to have some beer and look at the ol' Munich. Now, as I'm stationed in SFO, I don't travel that much, but I do fly some;)
The forums are great, I've been reading for quite a while before registering, but now I'm here and hope it'll last for long.
