usoftie, I cannot make Brunch but would like to meet up with you. I've sent you an email. Can I interest you or others in tea or a cocktail ~ 5 pm and an early Dinner on Sunday? Coctails at Raffles Hotel and Dinner at Chijmes nearby (many restaurant options; probably frowned upon by locals, but I like it). You'll be in bed by 8 pm.

I won't be joining you guys but I just flew NRT-SFO today and took the menu with me so I thought it would be helpful for you guys to know what you'll be served. (in C)

NRT-LAX/SFO/SEA:

To begin

Smoked Salmon sushi with gari and crabmeat
Cucumber wakame salad and fresh lemon

Garden Fresh Salad
Asian citrus dressing

MAIN COURSE

Fliet mignon with New Orleans seasoning
Garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed spinach, and pomodoto sauce

Pecan-crusted salmon
Sweet potato and portobello mushroom hash with green beans

Japanese Obento selection
An appetizer of grilled shrimp, steamed shrimp, eel rolled in egg and green tea buckwheat noodles
A main course of steamed red snapper, vinegared octopus, chilled beef with giner and steamed rice with green peas. Served with green tea

DESSERT

International cheese selection
Brie and Yuulong Lavender cheese

Chocolate brownie with vanilla sauce

PRIOR TO ARRIVAL

Tomato and chive omelette with Hollandaise sauce
Chicken sausage and hash-brown potatoes with a fruit appetizer

or

Japanese light meal with silver cod saikyoyaki
Rice with salmon, layer egg, simmered Daikon and shiitake mushroom with a fruit appetizer. (EXCELLENT)

Pick the Obento!! It was great.

I also have HKG-NRT-HKG menu, I could post it if anyone wants to see it.

Empress,

What was the condition of the C snack cart? Just rice crackers or the whole smash? Amenities kit? NC headphones on-loaded?

And while we're on the topic of in-flight amenities, here are UA's movie offerings:

U.S. to Japan
About a Boy
The Cat's Meow
The Gathering Storm
John Q.
Showtime
Spider-Man

Japan to SIN
The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
The Gathering Storm
Hollywood Ending
Life or Something Like It
The Rookie
Showtime

SIN to Japan
About a Boy
Bad Company
The Hollywood Sign
Ice Age
The Importance of Being Earnest
Lucky Break

Japan to U.S.
Bad Company
Changing Lanes
The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course
The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
The Hollywood Sign
My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Any oneworlder's care to add to the thread?

C snack cart was quite bad. Just the rice crackers both ways.

NC headphones was available on all segments including the intra-Asia flights.

Same Amenity kit as before. (Just on the long haul NRT/SFO flights)

This thing is a regular Do in the making. Or is it made?

The Bay Area's own kenjih who I (another Bay Area Kid) first met in SIN a while back, will be joining you. Details added to the SINners homepage.

Okay... Guy Betsy has been on the road and I know several folks are leaving the US tomorrow and may not be lugging computers with them. So with apologies to GB who will still be picking our restaurant, I'm going to go ahead and post a meeting time/place for dinner on Monday night and we will just all head over as a group:

Monday, Sept 9 - 7:00 pm - the lobby of the Sheraton

Please be in the lobby by 7 pm... we will wait a few minutes for stragglers and then head off for dinner.

Also, anyone who gets turned around by the complete time reversal who will be up for drinks when the Sunday night group arrives, several of us will be heading over to the Raffles that night... if you want to go with us, meet us in the lobby of the Sheraton around 1 am (and the Conrad group might want to organize themselves and meet us there)... I know a couple of folks are leaving early on Monday morning and wanted to see the group, so this will be fun for those of us who are Asian night-owls anyhow.

I will have complete access to FT until mid-morning on Saturday, so if anyone needs to get ahold of me for info, please feel free to post here or e-mail me at the address in my profile.

I can't wait to see you all!

FYI, I looked at rates at the Sheraton and was floored by how high they are - then realized the only availability seems to be for a suite there (460SGD). Oh well.

Well, hope everybody has a great time! Looks like I won't be able to join the Sunday get-together either, and will be flying out Monday. Have a blast, maybe I'll be around next time.

Really?! My book must be out of date.

Well that throws a monkeywrench in that plan.

Anyone have a plan B? I say the night owls still meet at the Sheraton and we will figure out something....
