If someone were to stay at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown (in Burnaby), how does that affect getting from/to YVR? Is it really any more difficult than staying at a downtown location?

In my opinion - if you're Hilton HHonors Gold (and we all are right ) the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown is a good option. The Skytrain is easy to use (even with baggage) and did not pose a significant worrry to me when I stayed at the hotel. Take the Skytrain to one of the central Vancouver stations and you have just as good access to YVR as if you were staying downtown.

Great News Chexfan!!! No need to stay at the evil Hilton or Starwood locations in YVR. Our Beloved InnPoints has a location in Vancouver!!! Time to show everyone how commited you truely are to the cause!!!

Here is the write up on the property:

Windsor Guest House is a carefully restored Victorian manor with hardwood floors, beautiful stained glass, and high ceilings. Located on a quiet, yet central, heritage neighborhood, it sits on the south slopes of downtown with views of the city center and the North Shore Mountains from the upper decks. An upscale continental breakfast is served daily, and complimentary coffee and tea are always available in the lounge. There are 8 guest rooms, most with a private bath. Guest telephone, fax, word processor, and e-mail are available. Excellent restaurants, City Square Mall, and all major bus routes are only a few minutes walk away. There is ample free off-street parking available. The area radiates an Old World ambiance that beckons guests to take a stroll anytime, day or night. Queen Elizabeth Park, Granville Island, China Town, and Stanley Park are all nearby. Smoking is allowed outdoors only.

Sounds perfect, should I make the res under Chex or Chexfan?!?

I'm going to be staying at the Mariott YVR Airport, and was wondering if anyone can tell me about getting from there to the restaurant for the FT get-together....

I'm hoping I can get away without renting a car...

KevinB (or others). Did not realise this until I phoned Hotel direct to confirm our booking, but the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel in West Hastings Street that some are staying at is a MARRIOTT property with all normal Marriott points and perks etc. Anyone got any Marriott upgrade certs to trade?

All my Renaissance stays have been Marriott properties? Are there some that aren't?

Please take me off the "maybe" list. Unfortunately my boss is already going to be away that weekend, and wants me to cover for him. Blech.

TravelWeary, all the Renaissance hotels I've stayed in the U.S. and Canada have been part of the Marriott chain.

ClassicalGal, too bad you can't make it to Vancouver this time.
