Just in case anyone will be looking for a last minute room for next weekend, be sure to check out Marriott Canada eBreaks next week. For weeks, the Renaissance Vancouver has been on here at $89CAD.

I decided to join in on the fun. I had a great time meeting so many people last year in Seattle.
Staying at the Hampton Inn/Suites Vancouver on Saturday night. Got a rate of $98.00 CDN by using the "Hit The Road" promotion (Use promo code HTR). I will also have to pay $8.00 CDN extra for parking plus tax. I also have a reservation for the Hampton out by the airport for 103.10 CDN on Friday night (AAA rate). However, the $89.00 CDN Renaissance rate is tempting, but I'm torn between trying to get the 50000 HHonors points and staying downtown close to the action. What's a frequent flyer suppose to do?
Village Idiot
I would be happy to join you for dinner and pub crawl but you can keep the loony.

JayJ: Isn't that always the dilemma--points vs.something else (convenience, price, whatever)? That's why we are staying at the Airport Hilton Suites ($109CDN) on Friday before moving to the Renaissance for the next two nights. I hear ya.
As for you VillageIdiot, you I'm trying to ignore although it's difficult. And, I would definitely take the money, but I want US$$ not that CDN stuff!!

I can't make it to this shindig because I work on weekends, but I noticed on the WEB SPECIALS for Alaska Airlines that there are some great deals for that weekend to Vancouver!
PHX-YVR 161
LAS-YVR 109
SAN-YVR 171
SFO-YVR 96
Orange County to Vancouver 182
Examples of fares, but you need to add taxes. Don't know how to post a link, but I'll try. LAS-YVR came to 132.43 after taxes with departure on Fri 18 and return on Sun 20.

Hope this helps someone make it to Vancouver!

I edited my above post to fix the link.
If someone thinks the fares are a good deal (I usually drive to Vancouver), maybe start another thread to get attention? The specials usually end on Sunday night.

Let's see a common string of happenings here...
FT Gathering is planned. chexfan plans on going. chexfan confirms on going. something happens to chexfan and he can't go.
Who knows? Maybe chexfan isn't even a real person.
Anyways, I appreciate the effort everyone has put into this but I will be unable to make it to Vancouver next weekend. Unfortunately I am still recouperating (I'm sucking up all the family TLC I can get!), and will be in Georgia through next weekend.

Got caught up in the moment and the Alaska Air special, so I am planning on it.
It is a little hard to figure out what is happening.
Perhaps a summery NEW string is indicated for the Itinery of events.
I gather, it is Sat dinner and Sun brunch

Hi Everyone
First, I am new at this... so forgive me if I am posting either the obvious or the useless...
Just got this in an email from Hilton...
**Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Hilton Vancouver Airport (CAD129/Night, Approx. $84, May 15-21)
Hilton Vancouver Metrotown (CAD129/Night, Approx. $84, May 15-16,
May 20-21)
Maybe this is of some help... if not..
Please forgive the intrusion

You're certainly not intruding, the problem is Hilton. If you go to their website (an excrutiating experience) and check the rates at the Hilton Airport right now, you can get a standard room for $119 CDN and a stopover rate of $109 CDN, both better than the "bargain" rate of $129 CDN. So, where's the "value" in this rate, Hilton??
The Metrotown rate, though, looks like it might be good. I got so frustrated just looking up the one rate, that I said forget it. But, if memory serves me this $129 CDN looks good.
