I LOVE Texas Swing and old Country(new Country not so much) so if there are any locals that could suggest a venue I would be grateful.
And if any of you would like to join me let me know and we could make this an event :D

I'm definitely planning to catch some music one or more evenings down there. I'll wait until we're closer and the various club listings are up to decide on club, band, and genre.

A few updates for everyone as we move closer to April:

Firstly, Blue Bell has informed us that they will not honor our agreement to do a group tour. We've thankfully replaced that event with a tour of the Austin Beerworks brewery here in Austin. I figure exchanging ice cream for beer is not necessarily a bad way to go. :D We've shuffled the timing a little bit as a result, and we'll be leaving a little later from the hotel so everyone can get a few extra minutes of rest. We also plan on having a local taco truck available for breakfast tacos that morning; bring cash for this.

Since we're not going out east of Austin, we're also changing the lunch location to Black's BBQ in Lockhart. We should have enough time for everyone to grab a bite here but plan on making a to go order if we're running late. Shiner is still in, as is City Market for dinner that night. This allows us to keep the bus costs in line with what we've previously established and locked in.

Additionally, for those that paid for the Blue Bell tour, that money will be put toward the ABW tour and will come with an ABW logo pint glass for you to keep. Swag is good. :) There are a few other miscellaneous notes, but all the gory details are available at the website, http://www.ausmegado.com. Let us know if anyone has questions or needs additional information.

Not really. Mackieman is being kind with regard to Blue Bell. I've been carrying on an off and on phone conversation with them since early last summer. Each time, it was "please call back after January 1st" with no hint that they were just going to turn us down in the end. The last call was in December when they told me that they were changing their group tours to only accommodate 25 at a time. I figured, fine...we'll take in two groups like we're going to have to do at Spoetzel Brewery. So January 3rd, the conversation went something like this:

Me: Hi. I'd like to see about booking a group tour for Friday, April 20th.

BB: <shuffling papers in background> Oh, I'm sorry, but we will not be offering group tours for that day. Is there another date I can check for you?

Me: <momentary stunned silence> Er, no. That's the only date we can work with.

BB: Okay. Well, thanks for calling. <click>

I'm hoping that we don't have anymore #vendorfail between now and the Do. Not only is it stressful, but it pisses me off a bit, as well.

That is disappointing -- lucky for them their ice cream cannot be denied or I would be angry. :cool: I agree that ice cream for beer is :D.

Wow... I think I just gained ten pounds reading that :D

Just a reminder for everyone that registration closes in three weeks (March 2, 2012 at 12:00 Noon Eastern time). While most events are sold out and so I don't expect many more new registrations, this date is important for everyone who has already registered because this date is the point at which all existing reservations become non-refundable.
