Note to everyone subscribed to this thread. I've made some minor changes to our itinerary, such as giving you more free time on Thursday afternoon to get ready for Perry's and changing the lunch venue for Friday's jaunt east and south of Austin. As always, the website will be your best resource, but I want to keep the thread updated as much as possible.

Also, I think Mackieman will have us ready to start taking official registrations soon, so look for that as well.

Are we going to be able to signup and possibly not do some things like the Thurs not sure if I can swing all Thurs off.

When sign-up time comes, it will be a lot clearer, but you will pick and choose whatever events you want to sign up for. Most of them are free anyway, but we only have 60 or so seats on the bus, so once that space fills, you'll have to a) provide your own transportation or b) claim a ride from one of the locals or c) go on the waitlist.

Registration just tells us who is coming for sure for what and what hoops we have to jump through with the venues based on that information.

And how will the Extra Legroom Seats be determined on the bus? Do we go by status or do we go by DYKWIA-ness?

Hmmm. This might change some folks' minds about attending, but as far as I know, there are no Extra Legroom seats on the charter bus.

Well, there's at least one, but it's all the way in the front... :)

To echo Pa Kettle's comments, each event will have a checkbox that you must click if you plan on attending that event. If you aren't going to make some of them, simply leave them unchecked. :)

For all of the events that require prepayment (dinner at Perry's, Blue Bell tour, lunch on the party barge, dinner at Uncle Billy's, and lunch at Salt Lick), if you select any of those you'll be prompted to prepay at the time of registration via Google Checkout.

More details about the sign up process will be released in the next week or so as I finish testing the checkout process.

Participants that flaunt DYKWIA will be invited to ride in the cargo hold. ;)

Duly noted! :D

Can't wait for the check-out to open so I can blow my hard earned cash on some fine BBQ...

Before You Come to Austin

A relative of mine, hearing that some out-of-staters were coming to Austin, recommended that I post a link to this educational list of Texas facts and language.

Unrelated, there is a LivingSocial offer for reduced price at Salt Lick BBQ, but it is for a new location in Round Rock. It expires March 7, 2012.

A few developments to report: we've experienced a slight change in plans for the Salt Lick on Sunday. Essentially, the Driftwood location has decided to not accept any private events that day, choosing instead to turn all private rooms into standard dining wherein they plan to pack the place out. Gaze upon how screwed we are, ye mighty, and despair.

Enter: The Round Rock Location.

Thankfully, the Round Rock location is still available on that day and we have locked that reservation. There are caveats, though, like the 60 person capacity limit (the Driftwood location limit was 80). On the upside, the overall cost is lower ($35 per person instead of $43) and it is not in a dry county so they offer a full bar. Some days you eat the bear, and some days the bear takes a nap on your face.

At the end of the day, we're still having Salt Lick BBQ on Sunday for lunch. :)

We are working feverishly (read: not that feverishly) to tie up all loose ends and open registration on Friday. While that remains the goal, we'll see what actually happens. :)

Do you have any gut feel yet for how many will attend the Do event? Based on posts here, hotel rooms reserved, etc?

Add a +1 from me to thank all you organizers for all the hard work.
