Thanks, Simon, for all the organization. It looks like there's a lot of very great options every day - and I can only guess as to what might be on deck with EK. We're very excited about this weekend.

That said, I don't think we'll be making it to the brunch, mostly due to cost and that it's basically the whole afternoon Friday. Would anyone else who's not planning on going to the brunch have any interest in alternate activities for Friday afternoon?

Thinking of afternoon tea at the Burj (from DYKWIA's original suggestion), visiting the souks, the overnight/evening safari (since the BBQ will be Sat evening), etc. We're certainly open to suggestions and would love to have others join. There's also the possibility for those who are going to the brunch to join in for just an activity Friday morning, although how "morning" it is will depend on how the jet-lag goes.

Not sure if it's a good idea or not, but would it be worth people posting their flights and hotels so people could maybe meet up on the way, or start the party early? :)

If so, I'll try to consolidate the details here, and then maybe Mr Eightblack could cut and paste to the main post.

I'll see if LH will let me switch to a JFK or a EWR flight back, rather than to IAD then LGA. Also, for those who've been there, is the LH FCT worth going to on the connections as opposed to staying in-terminal and using one of the FC lounges?

One other possible early morning activity is a hot air balloon ride. I gather that there are some that go up around sunrise for a one-hour ride. Between the time to get out to the location, the prep, the ride and the return, it's about 4-5 hours. Perhaps one of the mornings?
