:mad: Went through the process and paid (got an email notification from my credit card). But did not get any receipt. After the purchase process I just get a "session timed out" on the Burj website.
Need to send them an email tomorrow....

Same here but I managed to purchase only seconds before the "session timed out" note came up so did get to print the "thank you, your tickets are ready for collection" confirmation receipt. Then I received an email from "At the Top" with confirmation numbers.....see if you get that email...

Is there a plan for multiple folks to do the Burj on Friday evening? I might be interested in joining if so.

Here in UAE already!

... and looking forward to the do :) If anyone needs any local advice from someone with (fairly) fresh experiences here, give me a shout. I'm now used to dealing with bureaucracy and public transport in the northern emirates - yeesh!

I don't mean to be as lazy as I am, really, but later I will get around to reading the whole thread. I have gone in and paid for my brunch deposit, etc. (Dubai brunches are amazing - I think I was once drunk for 36 hours following one at the Al Qasr) .... but my question is this: so there is a Gold List and apparently a Silver Waiting list, is that still valid from page 1 of the thread, am I now at the bottom of the Silver Waiting list to maybe upgrade to the Gold list, even though I paid?

(just sitting now in the Marhaba lounge, drinking a nice Vieilles Vignes that has a cork in the top but also ridges for a screw cap...well, you drink what you can for free in Dubai, everything else is expensive.)

Oh, probably been said before, but a top tip is to buy 5 bottles of wine on entry to Dubai as low as 30 dhs a bottle, which is the price of a glass in most places...and there are no liquor stores around here, etc...).

Cheers, Powers

Hmmm. Bought mine about 2 days ago and had no hiccups at any stage. YMMV, I guess.

Just be aware that last-minute tickets cost 5 times what the advance purchase cost is. On that basis, it’d be worth buying it in advance just in case you decide to join those of us who are going, though the advance price is around $28. There’s no way I’d pay over $100 for that.

Sounds like a very cool activity. Do you have a link to the tour you were looking at? The one I see is http://www.arabiahorizons.com/Hot-Air-Balloon-Fly/ and goes for $273/person, which is a bit steep for me...

Edit: Looks like the hot air balloon companies don't run in June due to the weather (or the lack of tourists). Bummer.

Yes, the price is steep, and I wasn’t convinced I’d go for it, but wanted to put it out there. Shame if it’s not a possibility while we’re there.

There's one at the Ibn Battuta Mall which is something like USD 20 for maybe 30 minutes (?) - but you're in one place you just go up and come back down.

Somehow, for me at least, the straight up and down one isn’t really appealing. Also, judging from their web site, seems you’re up for only 15 minutes.

The Gold and Silver list are indicative to give everyone on here an idea of who is or maybe coming, and are in no particular order (of priority). Once you've registered via Eventbrite (make sure you register for the event too), you're a confirmed Gold. Eightblack will keep updating the list based on who registers and who drops out.

Me too! I think that makes 7 of us so far?

While I'm a little worried we might end up cutting the brunch short (is there actually an enforced time limit?), it does seem to be just about the best time to squeeze this in. So I'm in.

eightblack, I think that means this event has moved itself from Sat to Fri. Maybe update the schedule?

I have my Burj tower ticket already. I meant to say that I may still be too full from this groaning table, stomach stretching bacchanale brunch to even consider any more food and drink after the Burj experience. :)
