The people going will make this Do not Dubai itself.

was interested in the folks going but being the heat adverse person I am, waterskiing and raft floating on a Northern Wisconsin lake has my name all over it for this June weekend.

Have fun !!

Heaven help me. I'm edging towards committing to this. One question though. This 39 degrees celsius - is it a dry heat or a moist heat?

Prospero, we would be honoured if you would grace us with your presence.

And it's a moist heat if you slip over and spill your beer...I have no intention of stepping foot outside. Whatsoever.

While that's a good deal, a groupon is difficult to implement logistically because we don't know how many people are interested in joining and would have only 12 hours to figure out. Also a day safari is really not feasible given the weather in June. I don't think eightblack wants the attendees to come after him with an axe! :D

Arm duly twisted :)

This is where I'm at. Looking at arriving very late on Friday, departing 2am on Monday, leaving Saturday and Sunday entirely at your disposal.

Considering using Hilton Dubai Creek as my base (Fri/Sat nights). Is the property remotely close to the action?

Excellent point. I hadn't thought of the heat.

Actually I was also considering going with a Hilton property.

This brings up the bigger question: are any of the hotels (incl. the ones listed in the 6th post) particularly convenient (or not) for Do activities?

The Hilton is close to the airport (10 minutes max in a taxi), so close to the 'action'.

It has a nice bar, and the 'Verre' restaurant (Gordon Ramsay) which is also very good - other than allowing smoking

Cheers,
Rick

Looks like I'll be in Delhi June 20-21, so I am in the vicinity!!

Once the final itin is confirmed, I can make a final decision. Due to Jewish Sabbath, I am not mobile from FRi night to Sat. night.

I was thinking about going to Abu Dhabi just for a half day trip, should be 1 hour driving distance. Is it too much?

If you don't try doing this during rush hour you're looking at 90 minutes to get to Abu Dhabi. Not a big deal - it's a 5 or 6 lane highway and you can do about 140 - 160 kmph easy.
