For those of you that are getting jittery about the lack of an itinerary for the DO, worry not. Eightblack and I are going to DXB soon to finalize a venue for the brunch, activities for the DO and to check out some hotels. Expect details at the end of next week.

If you don't try doing this during rush hour you're looking at 90 minutes to get to Abu Dhabi. Not a big deal - it's a 5 or 6 lane highway and you can do about 140 - 160 kmph easy.

Officially not going to make it. Have fun folks!

I am a Silver. Might be the perfect opportunity to visit DXB. Will be able to confirm once itinerary is released.

Dubai Do Update - 18 May 2011
Just over a month to go folks. Man, have we got a Do in store for you.
Ung1 and I are in Dubai as we speak on a recon mission and have spent the last 48-hours seeing one hotel after the other, looking at activities and even talking with folks from Skywards. We'll be posting a full de-brief shortly about hotel options etc Kick off starts Thurs night at the InterContinental Festival City, Dubai. We'll meet at the Ground Floor bar called "Vista". The hotel is close to the airport. There's also a Crowne Plaza right beside - so those of you who are members of IHG, can take your pick in terms of accommodation. Friday will be brunch at the Park Hyatt, winner of the Best Brunch in Dubai for the last 2-years running. There will be 3-dining options (lunch with no alcohol option, lunch with wine and beer only, or the full monty, which includes lunch and free flow french champagne, unlimited mohitos and of course, beer and wine). You will need to commit to this event if you wish to attend. Prices are AED395, 450 and 595 respectively. Saturday will be planned activities - from water sports, to indoor snow skiing to a desert safari. Saturday afternoon, one of our very own Ambassadors (mrtdxb) is hosting a cocktail event at his own home - a Villa located at the famous Palms. The event will be catered for - all you need to do is bring something to drink. More details on this later. And Sunday, we will be doing something with Emirates. We're still co-ordinating with EK as to the specifics as there is so much to choose from - but rest assured, it will satisfy even the toughest airline nerd. The event promises to be a lot of fun. Yes, it will be hot, so pack light and cleanse your liver in advance! But there will be something for everyone. All the details will be published shortly. And remember, nothing is mandatory in terms of attendance at any of the events. See you all soon. And talk sooner... Regards SIMON (eightblack) |

Hi eighblack
Thanks for all these details. The brunch restaurant is called 'The Thai Kitchen', so is the brunch asian cuisine only ? http://www.restaurants.dubai.hyatt.com/traiteur/ And no, not Asian. French inspired I think. We'll post the menu shortly. |
OK for the Intercontinental on Thursday
Confirming the brunch i choose the second option on Friday Will see about the rest later. BTW staying at the Radisson Blu hotel, Deira Creek booked with points from AMEX. Thank you, well done. It does seems that Traiteur does not offer brunch. Of course i can be wrong. |

Given that we just spent an hour with the F&B Manager at the Park Hyatt, walked into the actual restaurant and had a grand tour of the hotel, its safe to say that our knowledge is accurate. Brunch is on. And its at Traiteur...
in fact 'The Thai Kitchen' and 'Traiteur' are both offering brunchs on fridays, but only 'Traiteur' has flowing Veuve Cliquot :D http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/...7/Traiteur.jpg |
