That said, we don't need to rush into anything, right? Still over 12 months to go.

There are also Carnival and Celebrity 6 or 7 night cruises from Vancouver or Seattle to Alaska, returning to one of those ports. Seem like good prices and the ones that include Hubbard Glacier and Icy Strait Point are certainly really nice itineraries.
I am sure there are lots of other choices too.

I think maybe Princess is just shuffling their schedule. They've also canceled the 14 May sailings on the Golden and Island. So who knows what they'll end up doing.
I like the sound of some of these other options, but with limited vacation time available, this was the only one that really fit our schedule.

So I finally got to talk with the agent. Apparently, all the cruise lines are shuffling ships next year, so there's a lot of flux. Hopefully things will sort themselves out over the next few weeks and we can see about a different Do. Everyone who has already booked will get refunds on their credit cards. Stay tuned to this space for more information as it comes in.

BUMMER. I appreciate the swift update and all your hard work to date. It's not been lost upon us that you spent a lot of time and effort and I really appreciate it all so far. I'm hoping we've a plan B coming.I like Princess a lot and have a slight preference for them though in general, I'm open to any quality operator.Ditto. I'm still very interested and have flexibility, largely owing to our copious advance notice. Keep us posted!

What a shame! Was already planning a pre cruise stay in San Francisco! I'd prefer to stay with Princess, as I am platinum and trying to reach elite. That 5 day LA-Vancouver trip sounds nice!

That's May 2010 (in 10 days), not May 2011. Looks like they've canceled the coastal(s) out of LA for May 2011, too.
Princess isn't showing anything at all starting mid-May 2011 outside Europe and cruises to/from Freemantle Australia.

That's kinda odd as they will have to sail the ships up from the Caribbean and get them to Alaska so there probably will be some coastal cruises in some form or another but maybe they're tinkering with the details at this point.

Their Alaska 2011 itineraries get released in about a week or two. I know I read the date this week but I didn't pay attention.

Princess Cruises has released its 2011 Alaska program, with season opening sales beginning May 13 with special rates that include adding three days at Denali to a cruise for $299. The program offers a range of cruise options on amenity-filled ships as well as cruisetour options such as a stay in Princess signature wilderness lodges and exclusive Direct to the Wilderness program where guests step right from their ship onto luxury railcars that transport them directly to the Denali area.
The season includes a total of 104 Alaska departures aboard six ships sailing on three itinerary options during the May to September season. The lineup includes Diamond Princess, Coral Princess, and Island Princess traveling on the line's Voyage of the Glaciers route through the Gulf of Alaska; Golden Princess and Sapphire Princess sailing the Inside Passage from Seattle, and Sea Princess cruising on 10-day journeys from San Francisco.
The cruisetour program combines a seven-day Voyage of the Glaciers cruise with three to eight additional nights on land exploring Alaskas interior. For 2011, travelers can choose from four types of land and sea packages Denali Explorer, On Your Own, Off the Beaten Path and Connoisseur. All cruisetours include the companys exclusive wilderness lodges, rail or motorcoach travel, plus Glacier Bay National Park and Denali National Park, where visitors spend at least two nights exploring the wonders of this area.
Cruises
Voyage of the Glaciers The lines Gulf of Alaska route between Vancouver and Whittier (for Anchorage) features calls at Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway with daylight cruising in Glacier Bay National Park and the 16 glaciers of College Fjord (or Hubbard Glacier on southbound sailings). Diamond Princess and Coral Princess sail on Saturdays and Island Princess offers new Wednesday departures for a total of 54 sailing choices between May 18 and September 17.
Inside Passage from Seattle Golden Princess and Sapphire Princess offer weekend departures on seven-day roundtrip itineraries from Seattle along the Inside Passage with calls at Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, British Columbia. Passengers will journey by Glacier Bay National Park (Golden Princess) or Tracy Arm (Sapphire Princess). The two ships will sail on 37 departures between May 14 and September 17, 2011.
Inside Passage from San Francisco Sea Princess again sails from the City by the Bay on 10-day roundtrip cruises. The ship offers 13 voyages from San Francisco featuring the scenery of Glacier Bay National Park or Tracy Arm, stops at Victoria and Juneau, plus two other calls in Ketchikan, Skagway, Haines, Sitka or Icy Strait Point.
