Strata Premier - no retention offer. Previous 3 years I had the spend $95 for a $95 statement credit offer, though it seems no one is getting that anymore. I wasn't too concerned as I was planning to downgrade anyway and re-apply for a new bonus (or maybe wait for Strata Elite).

same retention on strata 3x1K in 30 day cycles but
what is the recourse if you miss the offer 30$ in the first 30 day period by failing to spend the money?
anything can be done?

AA Platinum - nada

If I downgrade does it impact my application timing? It has been over four years and the current SUB is decent, but I would prefer the Strata Premier right now so I can transfer my TYP.

No offers on the Strata Premier at the 3 year mark. Rather surprising, as I think I've always received an offer on this one and previous times I've had the card. Not a huge deal, as I'll be eligible for a new bonus next year. Downgraded to Custom Cash (my third).

Strata Premier, took retention offer last year but this year's retention offer was much less desirable (spend $1000 per month for three months, then get $95 statement credit and 1000 thank you point) so I downgraded card.

Citibusiness AA one year anniversary. Offer - $99 annual fee credited back after spending $1000 in 3 months. No miles offers.

Citibusiness AA open 1 year, charged just over $6k for SUB. When I called to cancel the IVR system ("robot") processed my cancellation without sending me to a human agent. That was fine with me as I had no interest in keeping the card. But word to the wise: if you want a retention offer, you need to ask for a human.

CitiBusiness Platinum Select American Airlines AAdvantage

Open for 1 year. Spent >$20,000 on the card.

Called to cancel a few days after the annual fee posted. Connected to a call center outside of the US. It took the first agent 5 minutes to eventually reach the point in his process where offered to transfer me to retention. Sat on hold for another 5 minutes before he came back on to say the wait time to speak to retention was too long. He said he could offer 5,000 miles, which I declined. Then he gave me a number to call that he said was the direct line to retention (1-866-311-6742). Turns out that number was to Citi's fraud team.

Had to call back. Another 5-10 minutes to go through the process of confirming my identity, and the first agent went through the process of "understanding" my concerns. Finally retention offered $99 statement credit after spending $99 or more within 1 month.

Citi AAdvantage Exec

I've had this card for 2 years with 3 authorized users. I did ~$5k in spend the first year and ~$10k this year after it renewed at the old rate with no charge for the AUs. Now at the end of year 2, I called to cancel and was offered 7.5k miles for $1k in spending. I declined. I was surprised to get an offer at all.

Citi Prestige

Account opened since 2015, and spent $30K YTD.

Called a few days after annual fee was charged. Told the rep that I'm consider cancelling the card as the annual fee is a bit hard to justify, and was transferred to a "department that specialized in this matter."

The retention rep first offered $200 for spending $4K in 3 months. I asked if there is any offer for TYP, and was offered 20K TYP for spending $4K in 3 months. I double checked if it was $4K total or $4K/month, and the rep confirmed it was $4K total.

Accepted the offer.

I recently talked to a retention agent offering similar multi-month offers. When I asked him to define a "month" in that offer, he corrected that it's really per "statement cycle". I thought it would be important info to clarify when accepting such offers.

That’s interesting. For the past few years at least, these “monthly” spending requirements all start on the next business day after accepting the offer.

Given I’ve got burned by a rep giving false information before, I’d recommend calling back again to confirm the offer requirement.

Yes, this part is true due to the 1-2 day delay in activating the offers. But offers requiring certain spending "per month" can vary from one to the next. We can't assume when the next month will start and end without asking the reps (sometimes multiple times).

CitiBusiness Platinum Select - No offer

Summary: First anniversary, minimal spend outside of SUB, no offer, closed.

Long rant: I can't imagine using Citi as my primary business bank. I had to try to close this account three times.

(1) Gave the phone tree all the information needed to close the account, got transferred to someone who couldn't hear me but didn't seem bothered by it, and was willing to just sit there in silence.
(2) All the info in the phone tree again, put on hold, finally got a consumer rep who couldn't help me, transferred to a business rep (on hold again), couldn't help, transferred me to retention, on hold 15 min, gave up
(3) Finally just tried the chat rep, who didn't have any kind of retention offer and kept copy/pasting the actual script he was using without removing the agent instructions, told me he canceled it, even tho there's no evidence on the website, and told me I would need to wait 51 days for the refund.

EDIT: The chat rep seems to have done everything fine, account shows closed and fee was refunded the next day.

AA Business Platinum

Have had the card open for 1 year. $99 fee just hit. Spent ~$20K in the first year. Spoke to a rep to close citing the annual fee was the reason for closing. Was going to transfer me to a specialist, but then came back saying he would handle the closure. No offers. Possible the specialists were either busy or just kicked it back to him. Will try calling again next week during business hours when the call centers are fully staffed.
