Citi AA Biz card. Barely spent anything after meeting signup bonus. Called in for a retention offer. Was offered $99 statement credit after spending $1000 in 3 months. Declined and closed card.

CitiBusiness AAdvantage - No offer
First anniversary, little spend after initial SUB, no offers, closed
Similar lackluster experience to the call earlier in the week to cancel a different AA card. Started with a chat rep this time, who insisted she could not help close an account so I needed to call. Phone tree sent me to a consumer rep, who tried to transfer me to a business rep, but the wait time was over 30 minutes. Went back to the chat and begged the rep to help. Eventually, with 10+ minutes of work, she was able to follow the closing procedure. Every rep I talk to at Citi seems completely overburdened with work. |
Citi AA Platinum Select
2nd year with card. $99 AF posted today. Accepted the following offer: Spend $1000 within 3 months and $99 statement credit will be refunded/applied.
Does anyone if this accepted retention offer will be visible in app/on their website? Similar to the bonus tracker? |

Just my annual input: Citi Prestige called 1/4/2025. AF posts 1/14/2025
$200 statement credit or 20k points for $4,000 spend per month for 3 months. Took the offer. I spend >$4,000 a month on this card since its my primary card for eating out and travel (5x points/$) also do most of my business eating and travel on this as well. |
So first, every time I call 800-842-6596, I immediately get an incoming call from a (480) area code, I can only imagine is some scammer monitoring incoming calls somehow and hoping someone flips over to their call thinking it's still citi....Beside that, their automated system will now take you all the way through closure of an AF card if you say "close", saying anything else takes you to India, where it's impossible to get transferred to an "account specialist" anymore it seems. They go on hold and then say they've spoken to an account specialist for you, but will never transfer you. First call they said the "wait time for a specialist is too long", I said I'd wait, then somehow magically they're able to talk to an account specialist in 30 seconds and get back to me with no offer. This is on my 2nd Premier card. My other Premier I was connected almost immediately to an "account specialist" that had the $95 offer back in October. Curious what anyone else's experiences have been in 2025.

Citi Strata Premier
Received two retention offers on my card:

What is the current deadline for getting the annual $99 fee back from a Citi Business AAdvantage card? One front line agent told me 33 days, but I wrote down that the retention specialist a few weeks ago said 60 days. If anyone knows the current policy, as of January 2025, I'd be grateful. Thanks!
UPDATE: I spoke with a retention specialist who put me on hold to double check and confirmed it is 60 days for a Business card (and said they believed the date for a personal card is 37 days). |
I would look at your most recent paper/PDF statement for a paragraph headed Membership Fee.

Citi Premier card for 3 years now. Called in for a retention offer since the AF was coming up and was offered $95 statement credit + 1k TYP for $1000 spend each of the next 3 months. Pushed them again and I got the $3000 spend over 6 months for 10k TYP offer, which i took instead of the first offer. They did try pushing the first offer on me but I pushed for a second offer since my spending pattern wasn't a good fit for the initial offer.

I've got a Citi Prestige and the AF just posted. I had two retention offers available, both for $4k/mo spend for the next 3 months -- either $200 statement credit or 20k TYP (same as others above).

I told the rep the same thing happened the year before, and I verbally confirmed twice when I accepted the offer back in December. I asked them to put in a request to review the recordings. Reading from the few posts below mine, both ACK1 and seadan seem to receive the "correct" offer. |
Citi Prestige Retention Offer 2025

Citi Strata Premier. Long-term account. I was offered $95 stmt cr/mo.+ 1K TY points/mo. for 3 months for each month I spend $1K or more. CSR said that I would earn a total of $285 in stmt credits + 3K TY points. I accepted.

Citi Strata Premier - have had this card for a long time.
Too lazy to churn and it's been a good card to keep for everyday use otherwise: Gas, Groceries internationally and also after Domestic Custom Cash allotment used up. No offers at all - basically you call the general line and if there is an offer they transfer you to retentions. But there were no offers. So I then asked about my Double Cash which did have an offer and so they were allowed to transfer me to retentions. After I got done with Double Cash offer (will describe later) I asked again directly to Retentions, about the Premier, and again came back with sorry no offers for your Strata Premier - so its all computer algorithm driven. For the Double Cash: For the next 6mo you will earn 2 additional TYP's on all purchases. Max 35,000 bonus points earned = $17,500 in spend to maximize offer) 1 biz day to activate, may take 2 billing cycles to post Accepted offer as 4x TYP net, for a general use card isn't bad at all. I didn't really press for additional offers - was more let down by the fact that they didn't offer anything up for the Premier. Oh well. |
