This is a continuation of the original discussion HERE.

Book online at thankyou.com or by phone at 1-877-288-2484 7/24.

Starting September 1, 2019 the complimentary 4th night benefit can be used up to two times per calendar year. Bookings made prior to September 1, 2019, will not count toward your two-stay cap for 2019. Starting September 1, 2019 bookings for the 4th night benefit must be made exclusively by visiting thankyou.com or calling 1 800 THANKYOU. Citi Concierge will no longer handle new 4th night benefit bookings but will continue to support bookings made prior to September 1, 2019. To utilize your benefit through our online travel site, and/or have the option to use your ThankYou points, please visit thankyou.com, select travel in the top menu bar, select hotels, choose hotel designated as “Complimentary 4th Night Eligible”, book at least 4 nights, see savings at checkout.
Starting for reservations made on or after July 23, 2017, this benefit will give you the average nightly rate on stays of 4+ nights, and will NOT include taxes.

Reimbursement times vary but seem to have improved in 2017, now about 2 weeks is most common. See this thread
for details.

I've had the card a couple of years now and have saved at least $2,500/year with this 4th night free benefit but have a question!

The terms seem to state that the reservation must stay the same in order for the 4th night to be credited.

I booked a 5-night stay with only a 1-night deposit due for a stay here in Maui @ $320/night. Upon check-in, since we come here a lot, they offered us a $700/night suite for only $500/night so we took it.

Does anyone know which I will get credited after the stay:

A. $320
B. $500
C. $0, since I changed the original reservation

i'd reply on top of the Case Id email that your new rate is $500/n and ask the concierge to call the hotel reception to confirm & then update the rebate. i'd say grester than 50/50 ypu get $500 rebate.

Very successful first booking post July. Emailed per usual and included our corporate code for Marriott. They didn't even give me the usual "call in to complete" - I first got a reservation confirmation from Marriott and then 10 minutes later than Prestige confirmation email with all the details.

I used this a bunch of times prior to the changes. Saved a lot of money. Things have changed.

My first use in the past few months was at a Holiday Inn Express in California on 8/28 for four nights. I booked four nights online on 8/25, and the website said that my rate "with complimentary 4th night savings applied" was $536.30. Great, sounds good. Booked. Checked in, checked out, and received my hotel invoice which was for $564.19.

Day 1: $130.05 + $13.30 in fees
Day 2: $136.85 + $13.90 in fees
Day 3: $136.85 + $13.90 in fees
Day 4: $107.95 + $11.39 in fees

Previously, the hotel bill would show the full rate, which would be charged to my card, and then I'd get a credit for the 4th night. I understand they changed and now take an average of the four nights (which would work to my favor in this situation), and don't pay for taxes. So, my thinking is that I should have been charged $564.19, but then credited back $127.93 (the average of the four nights), for a total spend of $436.26.

$436.26 != $536.30, which is what was charged to my card on 8/26. I feel like I'm owed a hundred bucks but maybe am just not understanding the new system? Figured I'd check here first...

Sounds like the website is the problem. The underlying math is correct under current terms.

They have told me in the past when I inquire why do I have to call if they have all the informaiton in the system is that the CVV2 code is not retained in the system. This makes sense for security reasons and when the reservation requires it, you need to call in.

What is rate goes up between concierge quote and email?

So I obtained a quote from the concierge by email 2 days ago. Now i have the email and am ready to book and noticed the particular hotel (a St Regis) had rates go up like $200 per night in last day. Will concierge honor (or will get the property to honor) the rate in the email quote? It's for a stay in April 2018, so it's not an inventory issue per se.

It's frustrating having to use the email/call method with the concierge just to get SPG bennies with 4th night free.

Unless they actually been in contact with the hotel (i.e., not just quoted you from the web interface) - I highly doubt it. For simple reservations like those, I tend to tell them in the e-mail exactly what I want and it is get done without back and forth.

Depending on destination, April could be peak season. But I expect the rate that is currently available not what was available.

So we are thinking of staying at the Four Seasons in Bora Bora for seven nights. The base rate for the seven nights show as following on the Four Seasons website:

Day 1: $1,168.81
Day 2: $1,168.81
Day 3: $1,168.81
Day 4: USD 0
Day 5: $1,168.81
Day 6: $1,168.81
Day 7: $1,168.81

I just want to make sure I am correct that Citi will take the average of the 7 nights, including the 4th night that is $0. Also, I just applied for card yesterday....does anyone know of the four Seasons there is included in this program? Also, do I need to get the card first and activate it or can I log on now and book?

Thanks

They should take the average of all 7 days - but if they don't it would work out for your favor.

It will also depends on how the hotel promotion free night would be reflected on the reservations. I have made booking with stay 4, pay 3 - where the reservation states that the adjustment will be made at the hotel (i.e., the reservation states the price for all 4 nights), and the 4th night free confirmation e-mail had stated a true 25%.

If it shows up in your account already you should be okay though most people still go through the phone/email route.

Also note there were prior reports that you couldn't combine the FS/Ritz benefits with 4th night free, not sure whether this is still the case or not.

Well, I have some good news, fellow FT'ers!

I just got the "your credit is on its way" email from Citi and it is for the actual price that I paid WITH the paid upgrade!!! ($486.76, which was the upgrade's base rate without tax)

So, the answer is B!!! ^^
