Citi Preferred 20k No Spend

You may need to go incognito if you keep seeing $1,500 spend requirement.

I'm getting the same $0 spend in 3 months verbiage online, but when I tried to call to apply, to get someone to actually tell me this was the case, it said "This deal is not yet available."

Debating my next move.

Why would you call to apply if you see the deal online?

If they're not going to honor it, or if I have to jump through hoops to get it done, I'd rather know/test the waters in advance. If I'm going to end up needing to spend the $1,500 to get the points, I can put that to better use elsewhere. Then again, now that I'm "saying it out loud"...I can always just close it...

If you apply online after having seen 20k after $0 spend, they have no choice but to honor it. CFPB frowns upon banks pulling the rug out from under customers.

Not interested in another long debate, but no one whose first language is English thinks "after spending $0" is anything but human error or a website glitch. Nobody would ever word such a bonus in such a way.

That's Citi's problem.

Sure. "We had a glitch on our website. If you don't want the account, we'll be happy to close it and delete the inquiry from your credit report."

Problem, such as it is, solved.

Not quite. CFPB frowns upon false advertising. Also, this deal was promoted on various travel blogs and Citi will create a lot of ill will by not following through with the deal that isn't that unreasonable.

A glitch isn't the same thing as false advertising. Again, no one would ever phrase such a bonus as "after spending $0."

Historically Citi honors this type of offer, even if it is an error, but do document your application by making screen shots.

Not sure if anyone is still fighting the good fight on this one, but just spoke with Citi and they will be crediting me the 20K points on $0 spend because I had screenshots. Points coming at end of the month.
