Please post all of these fools names here so that the public knows about their asinine behavior.
Then file a complaint with the DHS OIG against these jackholes. |
If what state is full fact and you have witnesses (or video) you have a legal case and need to follow up on the investigation within the TSA for abuse of your rights. You are not required to state your name as long as you have two forms of i.d.
Definitely contact your congressman! Good luck! |

I don't agree with many of the TSA policies/tactics, and this one is no different. This one may be the most pointless one they are doing. The entire reason this is happening is because the TDC didn't catch one guy a couple of months ago going through security twice with other people's boarding passes. It's just insane. I have a feeling if they felt that terrorists could not stand on one foot, we would be hopping through the checkpoint the next day.

Got the "Pronounce your name" crap at AUS yesterday. I refused, stating that it was on boarding pass and pronouncing name put me at risk. TDC called cops (first) then supervisor. Cop explained that it was TSA airport policy and that it was required to travel. I asked if he was threatening me with not traveling, and he again deferred it to TSA, saying something about "Nigerian guy with fake boarding passes".......
A) With all due respect, "the Nigerian guy with the fake boarding pass" was allowed to fly because the TSA screwed up and that is not my problem B). If you would please look in my briefcase, you will see a folder containing copies of the Federal Regulations which state that I do not have to pronounce my name and with the TSO doing just that, they are in violation of the law so if you are here to arrest anyone, please read the regulations I just told you about and then where I have satisfied the federal requirements, either allow me to pass or arrest the TSO. I hope you live in the suburbs, where you actually have representation in Congress!
The only practical way this will change is if a critical mass of the public abandons ignorance, paranoia and apathy. |

I claimed retaliation, and he countered with "you are a security risk if you don't say your name".
The clerkpoint lines are going to get real slow at international airports if every non-English speaker is going to get a retaliation search. :td: |
Has anyone tried holding up a laminated card that says "I have taken a vow of silence. Please respect my decision"? Could claim discrimination if harassed.

It is not that I have to be silent. I am hearing impaired and everyone else is. I was very nervous today that this insanity had spread to my airport. Not today. I get to check another airport on Saturday. Why am I nervous? I really may not know that they have asked me to say anything. And if they do I may not know what they have asked. My hearing problem is variable. On a 1-10 where 10 is the best I can ever hear, today was about a 2. I can manage pretty well at 4-5. I was rescued by an attentive TDC 1-striper last week. The person with him said he needed to ask me some questions. At least that was my best guess as to what he said. I said that I was hearing impaired and that I might not understand his questions. The TDC looked at me and knowing I was from KY by my DL said "...........bourbon?" I do not know if it was "Do you like" or "What is your favorite" all I got was "bourbon." I am from Kentucky, I get it. Fried Chicken, the Derby and Bourbon. The total KY experience. I said "Wild Turkey 101." He elbowed his partner in a he's OK manner and they sent me through. Glad I did not say Jack Daniels. |
really?
you're complaining because someone asks you to pronounce your name? how many of you have denied answering questions at the custom/passport control? Why should a TSA checkpoint be any different? Also, after the questioning, I tend to get a "Have a nice flight, Mr. xxx" and I know my name is hard to pronounce.
