However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

My wife received her PP card about three weeks after getting approved last month - she didn't call in or request it in any way.

Ritz Carlton Question
Our annual fee on our Ritz card is coming up and we wanted to cancel. We have reservations booked using the free night vouchers in the coming month. If we cancel the card before using the vouchers, will our reservation be in jeopardy?
Thank you!
Thank you!

The free nights aren't attached to the credit card once you have them in your account. You can cancel the card.

I apologize if this has been answered somewhere and I missed it...
When is the optimal time of year to reach $75K in spend on this card so as to get the longest-lasting upgrade to Ritz/Mariott/Swd Platinum? TIA.

It gives you Platinum for the rest of the current year, plus the following year.

And is the important date the actual date crossing of $75K in spend, or rather the billing statement in which $75K in annual spend is exceeded?
Either way, this time of year seems like a good time to apply for this card if that's one's goal. Just average say $15K a month in spend for the next five months, and then in January you set yourself up for 2018-19.

The 75k spend is calendar year only, so the earlier you can get it done the better. I believe it is 75k on statement close, but you should be able to search the thread for clarification of real-time spend vs. closing statement.

I called several times today about the alleged offer for 3 free nights that was supposed to start today. Only one time the agent said there was such a thing, but when she connected me to the application department, over there they couldn't find it.
One of the agents said there was supposed to be a new offer starting on the 23rd for points, not nights, but he didn't say anything else. So... this info they're giving me doesn't seem to be that reliable, but I guess we'll find out in 5 days if any of it is true.

Is the $75k calculated as trailing one year to date, trailing 12 statement cycles or does it go off the calendar year.
Ie if my card renewes end of Dec does that mean that unless I can hit the spend by that date I'm better off waiting until dec statement closes?
TIA

Has anyone who didn't have the 2nd year AF charged get the statement message before their anniversary that it would be charged?

Sorry, I said January and meant it as a little tongue-in-cheek.

N.B.: Some cards do NOT require spend during a that same year, just the benchmark crossing. So for example, for Delta Amex Reserved/Plat, the MGM bonus posts for 2017-18 if the last miles before 25/30/50/60K occour in January 2017, even if the bulk of the spend was in 2016.

Have any NEW applicants had luck with the lowering CL to avoid fee method?
