one member wrote: AA is now showing gift cards as "giftcard" rather than general purchase if the csr looks closely. Last year it worked for me, yesterday it did not and csr told me that's why. However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017

Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

Tried to lower CL to $1500, couldn't get them to go below 1800. This was by transfering my limit from the ritz to another card.

Had my CL lowered to $1500 last year, redeemed 2x $300 travel credits and the annual fee has not been charged to me yet this year.

For a RCR card opened last month with an AU - does the AU have to make a purchase or are the 10,000 points automatic? Most of the blogs I've read say the AU has to make a purchase, but the card number is the same, so how do they know it was the AU? If not, around how long does it take for the points to post? The 3 free nights already posted. Thanks!

The account number is the same but the card ID (the number in the back) is different. You need to use the AU's credit card to pay for something.

Thanks for your response I just checked the card and the number on the back is also the same. Maybe info in the chip is different? I placed an order online using the AU's name, but it seems like there may have to be an in-store purchase.

I thought the 3 night offer was dead. Website shows 2 nights free. What am I missing here? I'm waiting for the 3 night offer to come back to sign up for this card.

sorry if i am not clear, i mean the validity of 3 FN cert after meeting min spend. not the 3 FN sign-up offer that is dead now.

the 3 FN cert lasts for 12 months after issuance, but i want to know whether anybody was successful in extending it to additional 6 months.

@StatusChallenged I tried as well a few weeks ago and was denied. I tried again this time (again, via SM) via "general comments" inquiry and moved the credit to another visa infinite card instead of to one of my Chase co-branded cards. CL is now 1700, so it worked. So maybe hang up SM again.

@moonwoo as recently as this week others have been able to SM to successfully match to the 3FN/5K spend.
